Hi All,

I have just swapped all my brakes over on my 1.2 TSI to the 312mm set up using all the correct bits.

What 4 pot brakes fit on to this set up? Heard AP ones do but cant find any 2/4 pot brakes anywhere that people have said will fit.

Sam

I'm just curious, which engine is in that car - the 90PS or 110PS, and was the original front brakes 288 with ATE callipers? I've always found the 288 front discs give very good braking performance for that weight of car.

It works out at around 105bhp and the original 288mm brakes are woful at best the same setup has been used by VAG since circa 2001

about every Golf & Fabia i've worked on i've replace these for the 312mm conversion
you get a firmer brake pedal, instant bite and more important less brake fade if your working the brakes hard

my own Fabia VRS 1.9pd ran the 312mm with AP 4 pots and was perfect for the power mine was running (270bhp & 400ft-lb)

I agree that the 288 front brakes with ATE callipers were border line inadequate in my 2000 VW Passat 4Motion but it weighed a lot more than the current Polo 6C, and probably very "wooden" in feeling, but on my wife's Aug 2015 Polo they seem good, also I'd agree about no initial bite, that is where the brakes in my 2011 S4 give a lot more confidence, although as you might expect lots of B8 S4 owners go for at least S5 brakes.

Edit:- probably what I meant to say was, if that Ibiza only 90PS or 110PS and very light, there might not be much to gain in uprating the front brakes, look good though and limit the minimum size of wheels that can be fitted which might mean less suitable winter tyres is the owner ever needs to use them.

The 288 ones are quite good but with 5 people in the car i felt the need to press the pedal alot harder. Ive heard the 312mm are much better and no fade with more bite. Plus when I get it mapped I will be wanting better brakes
