Cambelt due??

Hi all, new to the forum and trying to get posts up to 15 so I can put some pics up.

It's a 63 plate with higher than average miles 95k. Anyone know when cambelt is due? It has full seat history but I noticed no cambelt change is mentioned.

5 years or a set mileage of which I'm not sure! At 95k might be wise to get done asap

Cheers, I seem to remember 1.8t engines being 4 years or 120k so thought it might be similar. It was only service at seat 2000 miles ago so surely would of been changed if due?

Just found this on skoda forum

Given that Skoda no longer publishes Inspection Service jobs list in the Service Schedule booklet for the new cars (Octavia 3 and Rapid), below are the official Skoda servicing intervals for the new 2.0CR 150bhp engine, I guess the later 185bhp will be similar:
Oil change - 15000km / 9300 miles fixed, up to 30000km / 18700 miles variable
Air filter (engine) - 90 000 km / 56000 miles or 6 years
Fuel filter - 90 000 km / 56000 miles if the diesel meets EN 590 specification
DSG oil and filter - 60 000 km / 37000 miles
Cabin filter - 60 000 km / 37000 miles or 2 years
Timing belt - 210 000 km / 130000 miles and no time limit

130k seems a lot of miles to wait for cambelt, also says no time limit!!

Changed cambelt at 60,000 and 120,000 miles.

I'd expect it brought to my attention by service dept in a dealer must admit! I'd not let it go past 100k to be sure but I'd also ask question and get answer off SEAT just to be sure

Wouldn't hurt to get it done especially if you don't know the cars history cheaper than an engine detonation

I will give seat a call tomorrow and ask there opinion, the car has full seat history. Will look at getting it done in near future

It's 140,000 miles or every five years on the 184 Tdi

I've been looking for a definitive answer to the timing belt interval, it says 5 years but couldn't find the mileage.
Don't you think that 140k is a bit high?

Totally different engine, but enquired with seat about my 1.2TSI and was told 5 years or 160,000 miles.

Thanks for this info. I have a 1.2 and looking for info as to when to change mine.... I'll never hit 160,000 in 5 years so looks like I'll be changing my belt next year sometime.. Unless I grow a pair and stretch it a little. As a combined belt and pump change can be pricey..

I have just got back from my local dealer after collecting parts, and while there I asked the golden question.

There response was 5 years or 60,000 miles....
There cambelt and water pump service is £529.....

I have the 1.2 TSI and was told that the cambelt should be inspected for wear/damage at 60,000 miles and then every 20,000 miles after that, but must be changed every 120,000 miles/5 years if not done so earlier.

Regardless of what engine you have I think the above guide would be good to follow if you want to keep yourself and your car right

I can see that being more true than what I was told... Makes more sense. To change a belt at only 60,000 does seem a little soon.
