Hey,

I had to replace glass on left (passenger) mirror with one from autoparts, mirror goes on with the contacts for the heated inplace.

Set the dial to L on the controls, angle and place the mirror... all good

Set the dial to R on the controls, both mirrors start moving... wtf

Anyone know whats going on? I tried taking the glass off the passenger side and swapping the contacts, no joy.... broke the glass again... replacement free of charge...

It's probably set to be synchronised adjustment. You can change this in the settings.

Alternatively, do the mirror setting in reverse order?

Edit - or are you saying that as soon as you move the selector to R, the mirrors move on their own??

That's what they are supposed to do. Set the RH mirror to how you want that mirror to be(ignore the LH mirror. For time being) then switch control to LH mirror and set that mirror. Once done either put the mirror control in the middle where neither mirror moves or put the dial to R and both mirrors then move the same amount.

Correct, sync settings.
You can disable this settings in car setting. That's all..

Fastnfat is right. It's a VAG thing. Freaked me out too when I had a Skoda. Set the R/H mirror first and ignore the L/H mirror then when you are happy with the R/H mirror flip the switch to the left side and adjust that mirror individually. The idea is that once the mirrors are set another driver (The Mrs for example) should adjust both together to get their preferred setting and same for you when you are back in the driving seat.
