Hi, going to look at some 11/12 plates Fr 2.0 at the weekend.

Is there anything I should be ensuring has been done on the car? Looking at cars with around 40K miles.

Do these cars have Cam Belts?

Cheers guys- Can't wait to buy one!

Can't find an answer on the cambelt intervals.

Anyone know for the car I am looking at?

Depending on if it has the PD or CR engine (pre facelift or facelift) the cambelt is I believe:

PD: 4 years or 60,000 miles
CR: 5 years or 100,000

I called the Garage up selling the car advising them of the 5 year Cambelt change. He said the manual said no years and 130K miles. Hard to surely get him to do the change or drop the price because of it right?

Technically he is right, however Seat have a 5 year warranty on all Cambelts up to the stated mileage. So if it fails after 5 years but under the mileage, your out of luck.

I think its one of those "just in case" things. I just paid 350 to change the cambelt on my 2011 Cupra. It's just hit 35k this morning. The garage said they have people come in with 10 year old cambelts. I was worried cause it was summat like 5 years and 4 months! But he said it was just a precaution. 350 now to save 1000s later.

Just had mine done on my 12 CR at 50k (but 5 years old). Regardless of car I tend to use the 60k/5 year rule with our climate. It's circa £350 job balanced out over 5 years it's not a lot of money for the piece of mind that you know the engine is bang on. Look after these engines and they will hit xxx, xxx's!

Ive joined the Leon Club. Purchased a 11 plate Seat Leon FR+ 170 BHP.

Love it! Anyone else get torque steer? Wondering if a Remap will make it a bit of a beast to handle on the power?

Nah, do it. I had mine mapped and loved it. People used to think I just weaved for the fun of it when I floored it... till I explained.

Mine was £350 with water pump as well.

I rely more on the factory assembled belt with 120000 miles and 7 years than on the next one assembled by the stealers with 60000 miles and 4 years ;)

CR170 - 07/2010 have now 109000 miles and six and half years, stock belt and water pump, zero engine problems till now

Yeah, it was a tough one. I was initially worried that once its "messed with" it'll never be quite the same as the factory fitted belt. But as is everything in life you takes a gamble and hope for the best.
