What's considered the norm for these engines?

Mine only need 5l per service. Didn't need to get more oil to top up with before next service.

Manual say around 0.5L per 1000km, only reason I ask is I've just checked mine and it was around half way on the dipstick I had the oil changed in October last year and covered around 4K so I suppose it isn't that bad, it has in quantum longlife is it ok to top up with castrol edge which is the same grade and spec?

Dont think it matters too much. Ive topped mine up with Triple QX even though its got Quantum in there.

I've done 58k since I got my CR170 in 2013 and I haven't needed to top the oil up at all. Just the regular 10k oil changes.

I've no experience with the PD engine though.
