Our Altea XL is a 2008 2.0tdi model and the wife only uses it for short runs.
The heater takes an age to start demisting in the morning, is this standard for the age/model or is there a common problem?

Once the car has been running and engine gets up to temp there's plenty of heat. The only comparison I have is with my 2013 2.0tdi Tiguan, which heats in minutes on demist.

If the engine does not reach ~90° the heat wont be fully working. If she only uses it for short runs the engine might not get there.

They do take ages to heat up - can be at least 10 mins of gentle driving to get up to temperature in colder weather. Holding revs in lower gears (thrash it in 2nd everywhere!!) helps but doesn't exactly help with fuel consumption..........

As it was made in Spain the air con works really well but heating was an afterthought???? :D:D
