Engine management light

Since the end of December the supplying dealer has been trying to sort out my engine management light issue. I initially scanned the car with VCDS and got the following codes.

They originally said it was just an old fault code stored in the memory, and reset it. The next day it came back on and it went back. More excuses came without a solution. Eventually they owned up to not being able to solve it, so had to send it to a local specialist they use.

They did the following work:

The very next day after getting the car the light was back on. So car was returned back to the specialist, a week later still no car. Apparently they have now changed the carbon canister and still the lights on.
Now they reckon it needs a new ECU to cure the problem. The supplying dealer is terrible, no customer service skills. I have to chase them about my car.
Any ideas?

With it saying it's lean, and saying it's the evap system I would suspect that the purge valve is stuck open / the pipe has come off. This would allow extra air into the inlet that isn't metered and therefore it will run lean.

My first check would be the connections to the purge valve, and if needed remove it and i believe you can make it cycle via VCDS to check it's working right.

The last photo says a new valve was fitted, was it's a brand new gen valve? Or a used one? Or an after market one?

I'm not 100% sure where it is on the leon though, not poked around in a petrol vag engine bag for years sorry

Have they changed the pipe work from the carbon canister?

Have a google of the P code (P0441) it appears to be a pretty common fault. It a stub on one to fix. It does still point to a very very small leak somewhere between the canister and the throttle though.

Damn I feel for you mate, the way you're describing the situation it seems the garage don't seem to care! Have you taken it to a Seat specialist or is it just someone you know? They've had your car for nearly a month now surely it cannot take that long.

The dealer i got it from wouldn't allow me to send to the specialist i normally use. It has been back to the suppling dealer nearly every week since getting it a few days before Christmas.

So you bought the car at Christmas and it's having this engine management light issue? At least since you bought it from a dealer they are obliged to get it fixed by you. But to me it sounds a bit fishy if they won't let you go to your own specialist.

Keep us updated mate :)

Still no car yet, the ECU was sent off and checked. But nothing wrong with it apparently. Still no wiser that the hell is going on with it.
The car has now been in the garage for a month and still they are scratching there heads

You considered going to another dealer to get it sorted mate? This one seems really dodgy.

I would consider another car mate, get your money back from this dealer. You've given them plenty of time/chances to sort it without any results

I did consider that first but the car drives perfectly only has a light on the dash.
Plus its got very low miles and i haven't seen another in as good condition as this one.

They should just take it to Seat and be done with it.

Would save them time and money with how long they've had it.

Have they provided a courtesy car?

Latest update, the so called specialist was unable to cure the engine management light issue.
They said its due to the car being remapped. It had been remapped prior to me buying it. No details of the map or where it was done, so they are totally lost.
Surely the initial road test would of told them that it was.

Yep sack it off back to the original dealer. You are covered under the consumer rights act. Speak to citizens advice and they will give you guidance as I nearly returned a car under this due to a faulty gearbox that the supplying dealer tried to fix.

This is also why I wouldn't touch a car that has been mapped, but with no proof who has mapped it as there are some very good mappers and a lot of cowboys out there.

After finally getting my car back, there is one outstanding issue.
Nearly 1000 miles added to the clock, the dealer is trying to say it was down to road testing the vehicle. And has offered me £200 compensation, what a joke.
