After many years of going on about a track toy, I have finally found myself the perfect buy for the job. This will be a slow build but I intend to create a half decent spec track car.

So it begins

Currently the idea is to remove anything not required.
106kg gone so far.

Thank you, I'm looking forward to hopefully spending some time on it over the next couple weeks preparing it ready for a local drag racing event in November.

Wheels aside, that looks really nice.

I'm quite jealous, I'd love another Mk3 but all I tend to see are sheds

Good luck on the build

Nice clean example mate, i also like how youve got straight down to business with the inside

What's your future plans with it?

This will be my 3rd Mk3 Ibiza cupra.

Agree with the wheels, I will eventually source something more appropriate.

It took me awhile to find one for the right money.

I believe after doing a bit of research this was once owned by big_lad.

If I didn't get straight to business I would of sold it

Future plans are on a long term scale:
Before a planned Ring trip next year
Lexan side windows
Roll cage
Make it as light as possible
Different wheels
Larger brakes
Front mount

Long Term
Rebuild engine
Modest 300bhp with required trimmings
Standalone manage
LSD
This is a very off the top of the head list and no doubt will be a project for many years.

I intend to enter local hill climb and sprint events.

Little update,

Finally had a couple hours spare today.
Air con pump and that pre warm up fan out,
Thermostat changed.
Hopefully putting it back together tomorrow and then look at removing the dash to get rid of some more weight.

So this morning I managed a couple more hours, front end more or less back together with fluids topped up and engine running.
A good few more kg removed

Another few hours spent this weekend and finally she is on the road ready for a local drag racing event next weekend weather dependent.

Anyone after some lovely 17" alloy wheels..... Not my personal choice and would happily swap for some standard cupra wheels.

Finally managed to get my sticky fingers on a set of standard Cupra wheels. Need a lick of paint but £65 I am over the moon. The dreadful tack can now come off

Yesterday I attended a local drag racing event. Rather wet all day but it was good fun and it was the Ibiza's first proper outing.
Equipped with some very cheap and nasty tires I came 5th in my category.
14.87 on my last run.
Quite happy with my result and knowing that I have a base to work with for next time.

So the car has been left neglected since last year, with the first event only a week away I decided to crack on this weekend getting it ready.

So the car came with a Miltek cat back system mated onto the original cat down pipe. I decided that a decat was a must so today went about making it happen.

I also acquired a K03s turbo, uprated manifold and a forge tip, this is on the todo list however the front mount intercooler kit that arrived from eBay was a complete waste of time.

Nice little motor you've got there mate, could definitely strip the inside out add a rollcage and you'll be good to go! I'm glad you got the new wheels as I'm not a fan of the old ones you had when the car was bought lol

Thanks fella. The inside is fairly stripped however I do intend to go further and also add a cage.
The wheels are horrific, I still need to fit the standard rims but intended to run two of the awful wheels with full slicks fitted for the next drag race event

Aye you might as well get the full use out of them, is it just drag racing you're going to be using the car for or for normal track days too?

I intend to enter local time trails/ hill climbing events and the odd track day however the car isn't quite ready yet, I want to improve the handling and fit a cage first.
The drag racing event is 20 mins up the road and is more a bit of fun then to be taking too seriously.
