Hi

As since of you may know, I put up a post previously that my starter motor in my Leon fr 2007, was making a screeching sound on ignition.

Was driving today and got this engine management light come up.

Do you think it could be something related to the starter issue, or do these come up on something more sinister?

Unless the starter issue has damaged a sensor in some way, then i would imagine it's something unrelated to the screecher

What sensors would it damage, if I got a diagnostic machine to check, would it pick up all the issues?

I'm ordering one of these today..

That one is just a generic OBD2 fault code reader so will only be able to read fault codes related to the engine. If you want a more useful fault code reader that also has the ability to read fault codes from other control modules on VAG cars (not just from the engine ECU) then take a look at the Vgate VS450 or the MaxiScan VAG405. They are around the same price as the generic OBD2 scanner you were looking at buying.

Thanks bro, just cancelled and changed my order

Wait up a minute.

I'm not aware that the Vgate VS550 is a VAG specific code scanner. It just looks like another generic OBD2 scanner to me (engine fault codes only). It's the Vgate VS450 (which I mentioned in my previous post) that has the ability to perform VAG specific fault scanning on other control modules in the car.

Oh well, not to worry. Your particular problem is engine related anyway so what you've bought should do the job. Hardware model numbers can be deceiving. Just because one unit has a seemingly higher number than another unit doesn't always mean it is a better unit with better features than the lower numbered one.

I got the eml and that code on my mk2 cupra about a month back. Took it to the garage and they said it's safe to drive indefinitely. Likely n80. But if i was really worried to go and open the fuel cap to let the pressure out before long journeys. I did. It hissed. I cleared the code and it hasn't come back yet.
