Sat Nav update

Branta - I now believe that you are correct in respect of the video that I'd linked to re upgrading SatNav because,

1. I have not received any reply from them.

2. Looked at the video again and they don't mention "upgrading" the existing SatNav.

So I would conclude from the above two points that its a no go.

Finally heard back from them ( Satnavsystems ) He has informed me that it can only be installed on the radio unit that has no Satnav as part of the system. But has offered to see whether it can be installed on the Leon which has Satnav already installed.

I have declined because of distance involved and then to find out it wouldn't work.

If someone who lives much closer and wanted to give them a look :-

Satnav Systems (UK) Ltd

I would but I'm too far north, I guess I'll just have to stick with the 2014 maps installed, from numbers I have heard floating around (and I haven't been able to phone the dealer) it is cheaper buying a portable nav unit for less.
Realistic terms, for now the inbuilt nav is a nice option being there, and for over 95% of my journeys, I don't really use it and it has got me lost twice and that was where I shouldn't have really been following it to the tee, I should have just stuck with common sense as I was only around the Corner, it just got confused by pedestrian only sections

Does anyone else have a problem with orientation... if I'm driving north it's fine as I follow the roads as I'm seeing them in front of me .... but any other direction I find confusing..... is there a setting to change this ... cheers

I think if you set the map view to 3D the car position will always be somewhere near the bottom of the screen and the route to be driven will be above no matter which direction you are travelling.

Press the compass icon on the satnav or set to 3d view as someone else said.

There is a little compass icon on the right hand side that changes to/from 'north up'.
I prefer the 2D map, it's clearer and you don't lose the top of the screen to the sky
