Just had my renewal notice from Seat Insurance. 15 plate unmodified Leon mk3 1.2 tsi 12000 miles a year and I'm 48 with 10 years no claims, £600 . It's like they don't want my business.

Wow, That's a crazy price. Just got mine for my new 17 plate FR 1.4 eco TSI from admiral £180 for the year, fully comp (£400 excess). I'm 53 with 9 years no claims.

42 with a tuning box on a cupra and mines under £400 and that's with no voluntary excess.

It just depends on the company they're using to provide it really, you need to shop around any time you get a renewal because there's almost always a cheaper price out there somewhere.

Definitely will be, I used Seat Insurance last time because they're one of the few who promise to use OEM parts in the event of any repairs being done and they were pretty competitive. Not any more.

When comparing your insurance quotes with each other, as well as age and NCD you need to take into account the postcodes, it makes a lot of difference, a mate of mine moved from Northolt (Middlesex/London) to a village just south of Wellingborough and he got a £200 refund from his insurance company!

When i moved last year, mine jumped up £100, i'd only moved about a mile, and actually there's now an active police station about 50 yards away... Hey ho.

Mines due in a few months, currently with Aviva, Formerly Norwich union who have been reasonable for the past few years.

Also if it's a new build site, the price can go up. That's why mine has gone up so much because they don't have a history of the area yet. Even though the first part of the postcode is meant to be one of the cheapest for insurances, if I had just bought an older house with same post code, I could of saved loads.

Out of curiosity due to this thread i checked my insurance renewal cost and its either the same 800 or more. From what i remember i think last year confused.com had a sale on so this may explain why it was so cheap back then but kinda has come back to bite me now. Also my insurance runs out 10 days before i turn 21 and i checked if i waited that 10 days it would save me 150 quid! Any advise/help?

Drive a week with no insurance pretend you forgot.. Happens :D

And the reward for the most stupid comment of the thread goes to... a **** head.
Edit. No, sorry, I'm wrong. The 1st place goes to anyone moronic enough to take this imbecilic advice. The **** head comes a close second.

No, only need a road tax

You are not allowed to keep a car taxed with no insurance on it. If you let the insurance expire, you must then surrender the road tax, if you wish to be totally legal.

But to be honest, who in their right mind would not insure their Leon, it's not exactly a £500 banger!
