Plasti Dipped the chrome badges and top grille.
Pretty happy for my first attempt.

Pretty cool. What did you use?

Cheers.
Plasti Dip buddy. Mat black.
https://www.plastidip.co.uk/shop/plasti-dip-aerosol-sprays

It's rubber paint. Can be peeled off a year or two later in minutes. like vinyl, but leaving the underneath perfect, no glue etc.
Doing my wheels next.
Sets in no time. Excess Peels off in seconds and cuts to the seam or joints cleanly. No need for accurate masking. Overspray an advantage.
They now do gloss, satin, pearlescent, metallic, graphite, anthracite as topcoats instead of the mat colours.
Fluro colours as well.
I May do day glow pink splitter and wing mirrors.
Peel off when bored and do something else.
And yes it withstands jet wash after 2 weeks.
Check out YouTube videos by
Dip Your Car . Com
They are dipping whole cars in the states!
Good tips and great guides.
Nice black M3 they make Matt white and then peel air intakes and wing mirror stalks so the original black is on those pieces. Amazing.
See his wheels on an RS6 Matt black pasti dip for two years. Then he hits them with anthracite and it looks sic as my son would say.

Put back together, sadly still smoking like a steam train.... so time to just go into the garage.

New wheels fit though!

New wheels look lovely mate. Shame that the turbo rebuild hasn't fixed things. Know of two good garages that you can try if you need a recommendation. Fingers crossed for you

On the way home a mk2 came up onto the parkway behind me so I let him go for it and he did, so I came up behind him at the roundabout, got stuck behind two cars entering the "private part" so he got the jump on me, I thought for a second he's pretty quick and I have no chance but I'd shifted to forth early, by 100 I was passing and by 140 he had gave up.
Mk5 golf gti "white" the other day was same outcome but the golf was noticeable slower, did a do over with this car and still beat it easily and both times I had extra weight ie passenger/work mate.

Yeah yours does look good. Will see how long the Plastidip lasts and will maybe do a thread on it
I'm actually a n process of doing bottom section too. The honeycomb.
Also had to peel one section which I wasn't happy with. It had lifted at the creases. Not clean enough before I think.

So...found out yesterday after the logbook turning up at my door after 9 months of owning the car the engine number is NOT KNOWN. She's not an import so engine swap must have been done at some point.

sorted both front windows out as they wouldn't go up or down, so 1 replaced 1 window regulator and the other was that the window just came out of the clips???? previous owner had replaced the window regulator but couldn't of nipped the nuts up enough. now I don't have to sweat my bo*****s off when its warm.
