Hi all,

Need some help here. Did a search but my problem is different as LED not blinking.

2013 Leon Reference with 2 remote keys. Warning on dash to replace key battery soon. Bought correct battery, 2025, opened one key and replaced battery. Key did not work after battery change. Red light NOT blinking, nor any remote functons working but able to open door manually and start ignition as normal.

Thinking something wrong with key. Changed battery in second remote (same battery) and all was ok, LED blinking, remote lock/unlock working etc. That was last night.
This morning second key would not work. No blinking LED, no remote functions.

Replaced both old batteries in both keys, still no joy. Can open car with key in door lock but sets off alarm every time.

Anyone know what is going on here? Surely both keys couldn't have failed within a few hours of each other?

You need to be aware that here are some really convincing fake batteries out there. The common factor with your key fobs is the replacement batteries

Recently I changed the battery in my watch with what I thought was a genuine Sony battery. The watch stopped again two weeks later so I inserted the second Sony battery I had bought. That lasted a month.

The watch is now running reliably with a Panasonic battery. Before going to any great expense it my be worth trying a different battery.

Yup. A complete packet of 4 dud batteries....

What threw me was the original batteries didn't work when I put them back in. New pack of Duracells from the local chemist and away we went.

All sorted now thanks.
