Resonated or Non Resonated Exhaust

So time for a new turbo back custom exhaust. I'm Booked in to have a
3" system throughout.
Should I have resonated or not.
I have an LC with an aftermarket pipe. Sounds great.
Burbles, great when being provoked and deep bass on overrun.
95% of the time I love it.
5% it's a bit of a drone On very long journeys but these are rare.

The dilemma is the LCR is quiet by comparison, standard pipe work.
Only perks up if ragged.
It's funny as it sounds loud in the car but is very quiet outside when doing drive by.
Which to go for?
Noisy is safer. That's for sure.
Will track days be in jeopardy because of db levels if I go non res?
What do you have fitted and prefer?
I'm confused, thoughts or opinions wanted.

Non resonated all the way mate, my opinion is if you want the better than standard exhaust on a sporty car like the LCR, then you may aswell commit to the louder sound too. Otherwise its just a shinier exhaust tip? My Cobra non res is loud enough to sounds great but doesnt turn heads for the wrong reasons

Wouldn't 3" throughout drop you're torque due to back pressure?
3" down and 2.5" back is more than enough for ko4. Just going from what I read about back pressure and the ko3/4 from the other day

That I've been trying to glean info on without much luck.
I'll take any advice offered.
The guy doing it said 2.5 was quite adequate.
Couldn't find a good answer on here.
Definitely do t want to lose torque st all.

For any turbo car the bigger the better as back pressure will be minimised. If you have a tuned normally aspirated car...... bigger isn't necessary best and can loose torque.
Definitely 3 inch if you wish to maximise power upgrades in the future. Ideally a 3.5 inch down pipe mated to a 3 inch cat back. I would go for a 200 cell sports catalytic converter to ensure mot compliance and a resonator to reduce droan.
Beware of much misleading opinions and confusions regarding exhausts.

RE size, it depends on what power you are ultimately going for.
if less than 300 bhp then 3" down and 2.5 pipework is fine.

At present just going to be stage 1. So I'm guessing 260 270 max with the bits I have.
At present that is. Don't intend on more but never say never.

When bill said Google search...I searched and think i understand.
Ko3/4
3" down and 2.5" system is good for both power and torque. Max 300hp
3"+ should be left to the big turbo guys and girls and there turbo needs the extra room to breath.

The big straw little straw is a good test to do for real life testing.
More air you move the more space you need. Ko3/4 doesn't warrant a 3" as it won't move that much air.
Gt28 on the other hand would as the air it is making is a lot more.

Hope you get what I mean as it's sort of simple when you think about it but I'm not good at explaining things.

I did the same and came away more confused. There's different claims from everyone.
Some say bigger bore better flow which is what a turbo wants?
Some say back pressure will be an issue so go 2:5
Others that normally aspirated more effected by big bore.
Confused.

Claims with a stock ko4 have zero proof on a dyno showing the difference between the two. If there was proof I would have found it for sure.
Bigger turbo...yes but not the ko4.
Hybrid ko4...yes but again not the stock ko4
It Doesn't move enough air to warrant the cost of a 3" unless you are going to fit a bigger turbo or just don't give a care and just want the bragging points/noise from a 3" system.

Downpipe is a different story.
3" is proven to open up the turbo even with stock exhaust system fitted.

@ibizacupra or bill fancy adding some input on this

Ok
Makes sense buddy.im going to have another chat with the guy building it.
I'm not looking for noise. Noise from2.5 will be plenty soo don't need to pay unnecessarily for something that will do nothing for me. Thanks for taking another look.

I've gone non resonated and am uber happy with the result. Not droning at all. Burbles nicely and roars if you floor it. Happy daze!
