Got and fitted a 034 insert today. Fitted to a Cupra 280st. Could not imagine an easier mod to do. Bolt off, insert in, bolt on.
Initial reactions are good. There is slightly more vibration through the steering wheel but not excessive. Can now feel what the engine is doing. The start up has a kick to it and stop start just gets annoying so thinking of disabling this. There is a noticeable difference in engine noise. It now sounds like I have an engine. Not overly intrusive but audible and a wee bit growly when beans are given.
On to the reason I got one, wheel hop.
I done a launch after fitting and there is a huge difference. The hop only happened once instead of 5 or 6 times and then the car just gripped and went. Managed a few wee wheelspins as well but no more hop. Couldn't notice any difference in the dsg shifts and wouldn't say the car felt any faster. Being able to feel what the wheels are doing through the steering wheel does help in how you put the power down.
My car is my family car and as such I can't go mad with modifications but felt I had to do something about the hop. Have driven the family about today and none noticed any difference in noise or vibration.
This is only my first day of use so shall see how I get on with it over a period of time.

Are people still going for the Nuespeed one at awesome gti ? I see forge do one as well ? are they all as good as each other, have to try something to stop this wheel hop, the noise is terrible when it happens[:@]

I'm using the powerflex road version that I got from awesome. In combination with PS4S tyres I now have zero wheel hop in even the wettest conditions, just plant the throttle and off you go. Note that with the standard Bridgestones I still had some wheelhop...

Manual or dsg? Any other (power) mods?

DSG the regular one.
Manual the track version.
Loud exhaust or more power and thus more performance focused: track or black

Similar to mine, manual jb1 ps4 235r18. Ours is our family car and perfectly liveable with the track insert, with manual you can modulate throttle and clutch to avoid vibration patches esp. in reverse.

A wee update on the 034 insert. It's been pouring with rain the last couple of days and the car is transformed grip wise. I'm no longer spinning and hopping any time I pull away. I can give a fair bit welly before the wheels spin. In fact there now isn't much difference in driving in the wet or dry.
The benefits of this wee piece of metal are significant. I've no doubt there will be a lot better options out there but for less than £50 and a 2 minute fitting I can't recommend this enough.
Oh and I'm on Ps4s tyres with about 4mm grip.

Just as an addition to this....I have the 034Motorsport mount and it works great. Just a little extra to control at 400bhp/400lbft so I have ordered engine and transmission mounts to compliment the lower insert. When fitted I'll give feedback on the results.

Well. 6 weeks on, I have been getting "like stock" levels of wheel hop tramping in the wet and it's absolutely aweful. I am actually rather annoyed, now more than ever with stage 1 I need that connection in the wet and my god it's not there, half throttle it's tramping at, even doing in DAMP conditions? What. It is certianly not my tyres only had them a few months, as in the rain, they grip and handle perfectly well, no aqua planing scares, plenty of feedback in the wet, and in the dry they talk to me and chirp away under heavy load superbly.

However in the wet the 034 insert is NOT doing it's a job, at all. I would 1000 times prefer the wheels just spin or skip...not thrash violently like stock, but then in some cases, it will do the former, but most cases it's the latest, most "reactive" pulls are wheel hop, most "forced" are wheel, most mid turn are spin hop spin. Most dumps "at boost" are anyones guess, 50/50 at best.

I think I am going to try the yellow powerflex version in the future, the purple one was way too noisey at idle // ac on so never had a proper wet test of it, want to give the powerflex one another go and see if it can handle the rain...ever if i lose the nice sounding engine note from the bay i'd prefer that and wet wheel hop gone than "stock" levels of thrashingly violent wheelhop in the wet with the 034 insert.

Surprised, especially when i've been assured that over time the bend in the metal is a good thing, to help further reduce the wheel hop, seems to be having the opposite effect, damn.

Side note, anyone know if the BFI inserts are any softer // harder or slightly different designs to the powerflex versions? I would have no idea unless both listed direct hardness comparisons.

Told you so? Sorry it ain't so easy to know what to believe and experiences do vary. The Powerflex yellow one is normal softness, the diesel version is even softer. If you still have the purple one, try cutting the rear side in the flat middle so that you end up with the same 'fangs' with the little bridge in between as on the front side. That should by itself cut vibration transfer from the AC at idle. Good luck on your quest :)

PS: don't get 4drive or Golf R, 4wd is just boring and totally uneventful requiring no launching skills ;)

If you still have the purple one, try cutting the rear side in the flat middle so that you end up with the same 'fangs' with the little bridge in between as on the front side. I'm driving a 280 ST DSG and like you noticed along with the long list of positives that there were some vibrations, like in reverse, a slightly fierce feeling stop start, a bit more vibration on startup. Thankfully after a bit only the occasional vibration in reverse remains, when the car's not warmed up yet, with the list of positives still intact. The thing must bed in or something? Anyway, best 60 quid it's possible to spend on the thing. The fly in the ointment cured. P.S. I'm using the Powerflex road version. Yellow, I think? Can't actually remember the colour.

Stage 1, powerflex yellow, PS4S tyres and no issues at all in the wet, so much so I'm thinking the car can happily handle more power. My map does have a nice progressive torque curve so that may also help. I also think the driven wheels of our cars are extremely tyre sensitive, more so than other cars I've had...

Oh shut up you :p. I must admit however, it was doing it prior to the map. It is not exactly like you described though, dry grip is excellent but under extreme circumstances, there is lul in grip. Wet grip, used to be a lot better and wheel hop severely less (kinda like a rumble, a slip, or a skip) but now 6 weeks on with our wild UK weather in the wet, it's returned to stock levels of tramping. Which has me concerned, i've had a look at the insert, it looks the same amount of bending it had 5 weeks ago but on closer inspection it could be worse.

I should add lol i'm not letting it stress me out because there is little i can do at the moment due to work and other issues so, i am just letting off until i can dedicate time to resolving it. I do still have the purple 1, but not exactly sure what you mean so will come back to that, thanks :).

I can't get PS4S on my 17s, it's 18 minimum i think as I've not seen them on anything less. My dunlop sportmaxx rt2s are great though, in the wet, it corners and glides through bends confidently and i know if i have to brake hard they are going to stop me good!

Maybe it's worth trying the yellow one (or fiddling with the purple one lol) and see if that helps, either than, or upgrade more of the bushes/mounts? We'll see.

I should also add my Bluefin map is much more linear than stock too, get a great shove right through to redline, absolutely fantastic power. I'll have to check it next week and experiment a bit, until then i think :).
