Gas boot struts on an ST?

Hi all,
I've seen many posts about putting gas boot struts on the Seat Leon so you can pop the boot open with the key, but I've never seen any posts confirming this can or has been done an the estate model? I know the boot is a different shape and might not work.
If anyone has done this, please could you say if it worked well and which struts you used? Thanks

I was thinking about doing the struts but I've personally seen different results. It works like a great on my friends Golf (quite a violent affair) I wouldn't stand close to the boot when opening! I've also had a mate that fitted them to his Octavia and it only opened half way. I'm not sure if they were exact parts but the way the boot on the Golf opened put me right off!

I wondered this too. I just assumed the tailgate would be too heavy and vertical on an ST

I'm sure I read somewhere that it wasn't possible as in order to lift the tailgate so much force was needed it broke the window or bent the locks when it got to the end of it's travel. Might be wrong but haven't seen it done.
