Any one able to shed some light on what service I need and how much it should cost?

2016 Leon FR. 15,000 miles. 1 year old on March 10th.

Service light on for "inspection service" due 4000 miles or 30 days. That's exactly one year since new.

Seat UK have me down for long life service, but say one year is normal for "1st service". Price £189.

Dealer has 2 years/19000 so £239 for full service. They couldn't tell me why I need a service already then.

Everyone is confused. It can't be that unusual?!

Seems that you're on a variable service regime. Usually due at 16-19K miles (dependent on various engine/oil sensors which again is dependent on driving type/style) OR 2 years; whichever happens soonest.

£239 variable/longlife service is the one you want or go to an independent specialist and pay ~£100 less, which won't effect your warranty and or finance/lease*

*unless the lease has some specific claus about only using authorised franchises for servicing.

Thanks for the reply.

The fact the service is due exactly 365 days since purchase is really coincidental but it does seem like long life service based on the mileage.

I too found it confusing when I first bought the car. Car was set up for fixed service, but car dealer had registered the car with Seat as long life service.
Life complicated enough.
Personally "traditional" fixed service easy to understand, and suits simple old me, so I got Dealer to update Seats records to Fixed service.

My car is also a year old and going for its first service at the start of March.
I asked for it to be set to long life however at 10,000 miles the service light came on. I took it back and they switched it over at that time. I now have nearly 17000 miles on the clock but the car says it doesn't need an inspection service for 12,100 miles or an oil change for 10,700 miles

I took my car in to have the service light reset today. 1.4 TSI ACT

Oil change service warning at just under 9,500 miles on the clock. (car is 5 months old) Booked it in with SEAT warrington. They rang back saying because its a lease car the leasing company won't service it until 18,000 miles. So they suggested i ignore the warning for 8,500 miles or come in and have it reset. (I could probably have done this myself, but the onus is on me then)

Its now saying it wants an oil change in 9,500 miles and an inspection in 18,000.

Seems like it is setup for fixed servicing and it needs to be set up for variable servicing?

Yeah I'm now doing this, car same age same engine and flashing up oil change. Booked in at dealer next week to have service light switched off and inspected to make sure a service isn't in fact due.

From what I understand you can ask for it? Think it's just a long life oil and maybe a different filter? No idea on cost I'm afraid, I could well find out next week lol

Yes, long life oil - not much more expensive than standard fully synthetic oil (about 50p per litre if bulk buying). The oil filter is the same. I always put long life oil in mine.

I got mine on fixed servicing (every 15,000 km or something like 9800 miles), in the UK.

Moved to the Netherlands, had the full LED lights replaced all around (VERY expensive). They told me I could have it switched over to flexible long-life service (every 30,000 km) as the cars are identical, it's just different oil. Well, of course. So, I'm at 225,000 km now (4 yrs, 3 yrs after the move) and everything is working perfectly fine. No issues at all with changing oil only after 30,000 km. I do typically get the oil level light to warn me at ~21,000 km (9000 km before servicing) at which point I have to top it up a bit, and then perhaps once or twice more before the service (I usually top up 200 - 400 ml each time) From 20,000 km after service I always make sure to have some oil with me.

So car went in today to have service light turned off with 9k on the clock. Advised to book it in for its first service at 10k (2 weeks time ultimately) which they can put long life oil in to take servicing to every 18k.
