so around 4 weeks ago i got my leon fr remapped, to an apparent "200bhp", i didnt have the car put on a dyno as it was apparently broken and then when it was "fixed" i took it in for it to be still broke. anyway today i was fedup and took it elsewhere to be dynod and behold, the lie came in.

wait for it... the car was running 6bhp over stock... 6bhp. the torque had gone up 30 ft pound and that cost me a whopping £230. anyway i had the company who dynod it give it a try as the original company who i will name, "chiptech tuning" tried to tell me it was my cars fault...

and behold my car is now running at 180, he told me i would get 200 but only someone like revo or apr would be possible to give me a gain like that.

so lesson here is be careful who modifies your car.

and offering a dodgy service of mileage correction.... :| (yes I know there are some instances where its possibly ok to do it, putting the genuine mileage on a second hand dash cluster for example)

im getting my money back and im giving them bad rep where i can, they even tried to pie it off on me saying it must be the car going faulty lmao. if that was the case then why is it now running 180.

wanna know why im stupid in the first place, nearly every other company who advertise on facebook atleast show the graph gains rather than just saying "oh yeah this car has 50bhp more"

I say this week in week out, stick to tried and trusted people.

All of these companies you see on Facebook etc, they have purchased a tuning setup which includes equipment and website. they simply search for an ECU file on a database and flash the file.

Joe blogs comes along in his PUG diesel or Vauxhall... car feels faster and instantly claim the guy is a tuning god usually by claiming "bloke knew what he was talking about" of course he knew what he was talking about because the customer hasnt got a clue.

i didnt know removing the dpf was illegal, i know a decat is though.

Quote from the Government press release (linked article in post #10 in this thread);

The filters need to be ‘regenerated’ regularly through burning the soot to gas at a very high temperature, leaving behind a residue. If not carried out properly, regeneration can lead to a build up of soot, which can affect performance. This has led to some diesel vehicle owners opting to remove the filter, which makes their car illegal for road use.

Is there any reason why you didn't go down the self tune route? From the likes of superchips or shark performance? Can put car back to standard when needed.

Yes can put the car back to standard but still shows on the ECU flash count every time it is flashed on or off. VCDS etc can show the count so not really an option if leasing or under warranty.

"Trading Standards" springs to mind in this case. If only to stop others getting conned/misled too, additionally if there are any illegal practices going on then they would bring in the appropriate authorities.

Apparently not, I asked the same question if it could be picked up in any form both said it couldn't, not sure but i believe the new ECU don't have counters. Where is the counter in vcds as I can have a look, and if it increases will be having word's!!!
