Wanting to drop my car K1 but unsure what lower springs are good, I.e doesn't mess drive up or handling and most importantly not grind tyres with wheel arches
Any recommendations would be appreciated
Thanks

Eibach Sprotlines are by far the most popular option closely followed by the H&R springs.

Could you recommend a drop size? I was thinking about 40mm or would that be too low
Thanks

The Eibach Sportline springs are 50mm/35mm and the H&R springs are 40mm, with you having the K1 model you'll need to take off at least 20mm from those quoted drops.

I have H&R springs with a 40mm drop, it sounds a lot but its perfect.

30mm is not enough IMO

Wheels still have plenty of clearance, not low enough to scrape bumps

Handling DRAMATICALLY improved. Less body roll etc. I'm getting some anti roll bars and anti lift kit soon so hopefully will improve the handling further.

No I'm saying the Cupra K1 is lowered around 20mm from factory so you'd need to take this off any quoted drop unless the springs were specifically for the Cupra K1. For example, the Eibach Sportline 50mm/35mm springs will only give you a further 30mm/15mm at the most.

Ah I see what your saying, thanks, could you pm me some prices on some 50mm & 60mm springs if possible? Also what size would you recommend to sit low as possible without catching arches
Thanks

For that kind of drop you're looking at coilovers IMO

Yes mines a K1 with 40mm drop

I wouldn't want to go too low mate otherwise you would be forever crawling over humps and bumps on the fantastic roads we have in the UK! The K1's are meant to be driven!

Coilovers are good for looks I suppose if you want to slam your vehicle, or track etc.

If you are looking for a fast road car, lowering springs should be enough as the stock shocks are decent.

I will get some pics of before and after up soon.

Which springs did you use to drop 40 mm?

40mm H&R spings....

Had for £156 on fleabay

Ah right, I thought you'd got some springs that actually dropped 40 mm.
The H&Rs drop 30mm on the Cupra/K1 models (they are the same springs/part number for all models, just advertised as 30 or 40mm depending on model).

The lowest springs we have available are the Eibach Sportlines - https://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/ca...cupra-20t-fsi-fr-20t-si-20tdi-fr-20tdi-082005

See Damians link for the lowest Eibach springs. I think the difference will be minimal pal, I spent ages looking at different springs / heights and settled on 40mm. So glad I did, slightly lower, much better handling and I can still clear the humps no problem. Slight catch on fronts if I hit a bump whilst cornering hard at speed

Fitted some H&R springs 30mm drop on front and rear, handles much better and sits low (doesn’t catch) anyone thinking of doing this go for it you will not regret it

Rear springs very easy to do definitely a diy even for novices
Fronts a bit more tricky but if you have the right tools and a bit of experience then can also diy
Tracking was slightly out afterwards so had to have that done but penny’s to what you’d pay a garage to fit springs
