Hi all,

Im in the process of getting some leasing quotes together for a 5dr dsg over 24 months at 15k miles. Im unsure whether to add a maintenance & tyres package and wondered what your thoughts/experience is. Im waiting on more quotes but the one i have adds about £57 per month - is this the going rate on the cupra?

Could anyone give me an idea how many services would be needed in the 24 months and what sort of price they are please?

Many thanks for reading and any replies

I've had two services over my 24 month lease. I went to the dealership which made the minor and major slightly more expensive.

You could go to any approved VAG specialist garage and get cheaper.

At the time when I got my 280 in 2015 this worked out cheaper than a service pack. Seat Finance didn't offer me maintenance.

Over the 24 months I've gone through 3 tyres. Ironically not one of them was down to wear.

I have had to extend my lease until the new car comes in 5-6 months but I won't need another service.

I've not been quoted for a Cupra, but maintenance on the Mercedes I fancied was £60 a month for 3year 12K pa deal. Two services and maybe 4 tyres they want me to pay £2160 to cover it....

I've decided on a PCH maintenance is not worth it. If you're worried about paying a bill, put £30 a month in a maintenance account and use that to pay for services / tyres / wipers.

You can purchase a maintenance plan through seat dealer which will save a few quid on overall maintenance cost. Factor 1 service a year with minor and major being needed over 2 years with fixed price servicing from seat so easy to budget. Not sure how many miles you expect to do in the 2 years so not sure what your tyre costs would equate to? When I weighted up maintenance in my lease costs it seemed cheaper to pay for this separately but deals may be different now.

Realistically i expect to do between 12 to 14k a year. Is it 10k intervals for servicing? What sort of prices are minor and major if anyone can help please?

If you have the car over 24mths in theory you will only have to service it x 1 which would be around £180 tops at a seat dealer . The extra £57 per month which sounds like I miss quote to me would cost you £684 a year !!!!!!
At the most over 24mths at 15k would probably need a new set of front tyres certainly not costing you with one service and a couple of tyres the £ 1368 they have quoted you extra over the 2yrs

Yes it sounds pretty rubbish when you put it like that! When i was first looking into it i thought it might be around 20 quid a month, which i didnt think was bad for servicing and tyres, but at these figures its clearly not a good deal. I didnt know if there was some unknown, such as crazy servicing prices/intervals or some other unknown.

Thanks again everyone for your help with this!

2 yrs ownership will need 2 services. Lease company won't allow service to be missed if due on return.

If you have the first service 1 week after the 12 mths the second service is not due until after the car is returned.
Never serviced a car on lease twice on a 2yr lease only the once

Seat also do long life servicing for higher mileage cars which is every 20k or 2 years from memory and this was 195 from memory when I had it done on my fr recently. I do approx 20k a year so on standard servicing would be every 6 months if going by mileage.

I was told different by lease company. I'm going to read my small print.

You will find it states to follow the service book which is every 12mths or depending on the mileage which ever comes first.

So if you return the car a week early before the service is due or have the first service 1 week late which you are allowed the 2nd service is not required within the guide lines of the service book.

I had a car on 3yr lease also which in theory was due a MOT and last service before return. I just made sure the car was returned a week early so the MOT was not needed as the car was not 3yrs old and the last service was within the 12mths.

Not sure many people would pay out for a last service and a MOT and then return the car the same week ????

IM paying £24 a month for servicing maintenance and tyres with Seat for my Cupra. I worked out that i will definitely need a new set of front tyres and most likely brake pads and a service and the cost would be almost the same so easier spread out over the course of the term and then some if i need anythign else doing

With my last lease, I only serviced it once (vxr not cupra)
Returned a week early and no fuss at all.
