Torn pipe on Turbo Intake Pipe

Hi everyone,
I have a torn breather pipe, the one that goes from the Turbo Intake Pipe up to the round Hockey puck that joins to the upper Crankcase breather.

It is venting oil vapour into the engine bay and you can see slight smoke when the headlights are on. You can smell this in the car which isn't good.

Can I temporarily block the ends of the pipe and the gap it's made on the Turbo Intake Pipe without causing an issue?

My mpg have dropped significantly since this has happened, I assume that's linked?

Thanks

I would definitely suggest it's linked to mpg. It's drawing air in which the MAF isn't seeing.
You can cap off the end into the turbo inlet pipe, but you need to let the end that normally goes to the hockey puck breathe (maybe rig up a temporary catch can).
I would suggest to put it back to how SEAT intended when you get the chance - the vacuum in the TIP is meant to scavenge the crankcase of oil vapours.
There are plenty of silicone hoses on eBay to replace the piece if it's the separate pipe that's torn.

Thanks for the reply, a great help!
How would I rig up a temporary catch can?

It has torn the pipe that comes down from the hockey puck away from the TIP unfortunately tearing the actual TIP itself so I need a new one of those and the pipe from the hockey puck (is it the intake breather pipe?) is very 'squashy' and collapsing so will have to get one of those too.

I think I've found them on Creation Motorsport for around £80 for the TIP and £15 for the hockey puck pipe.

It's a minefield finding the the right bits! Lol.

You could leave it open to atmosphere, you might get some oil vapour that condenses and drips liquid oil over your gearbox or your driveway. If you can rig some kind of container (bottle, can, etc) you could vent it into that).

Good time to upgrade the TIP if you’re thinking of mapping at some point.

Thanks Gaz, good info!

She's a little long in the tooth for mapping maybe? She's done 165,000 and is notching up almost 2000 miles each month. She's a workhorse! :)

Yep I need to get one and the upper Crankcase breather and the pipe that links the TIP to the Hockey puck (what is that bit actually called?)

Nice plug! :):) I've seen yours, what's the difference between yours and one from someone like Creation Motorsport? Do you just do the TIP?

Bill’s TIP is a good price, but the main thing is they make real gains Compared to some that just look the part.
Quite a bit of info on them available.
