Are all cars that are currently Cupras going to have this hideous logo or will it just be select models? If you've ordered a SEAT now is there a risk it may turn up as a Cupra branded car?

Worried...

Looks like all cupras will be under this brand and not known as seats. So Leon Ibiza and Areca. As it’s a brand there may well be another model tuned up to cupra spec maybe an arona or all new model possibly the new tarraco

As an owner of the MK3 RS, yes the marketing and journo's reviews were rather hyped up, but unless you've driven one ( in standard tune), it is a truly impressive piece of kit.

As for reliability bordering on criminal - really? Mine is one of the early ones (end of March 2016 build, April 16 collection) and sitting nicely with 21k on the clock, a daily driver and driven hard. I know plenty of reliable ones. Don't believe all the negativity you read on the internet - a lot of that is hyped. Sure Ford cocked up with installation of an incorrect head gasket (the one for the Mustang was used, which is nigh on the same engine as the RS, one, but lesser tune, and it took time for Ford to admit to the source of the problem) so the gasket mix up is possible (but of course shouldn't happen). Sure Ford haven't dealt with the whole issue very well, but that doesn't change the iconic status of the RS.

I'm a car enthusiast like yourself, I research them for months before my deposit goes down and I also test drive each and every one. The Rs was an absolute runner 2 years ago but for the price! They were asking for an extra €20,000 over the st 290. That was a hurdle I just couldn't get over in my own head. The reason I made the statement with regards to reliability and criminality was I recently contacted a dealer selling a 2018 Rs, it's an early model 2016 which hasn't been registered and asked him about the head gasket issue ? He knew nothing of it , played it down and was quite willing to accept my money!
So tell me, with yours being an early model has it been booked in for work? Or was it booked in and isn't now? I hear Ford haven't enough parts?
I don't want to sound as if I'm knocking the car but when you say Ford cocked up ? That's an understatement . It's absolutely unacceptable . We all want a better service when parting with our hard earned cash and Ford for me have been pushed way back in the pecking order. From what I know and correct me if I'm wrong, they have issued a recall and it affects cars in the thousands.(10's)Problem being over hyped? It was a major , major **** up. Unforgivable for some .

I had a 2007 56 plate Focus ST and the engine liner cracked just a month out of warranty. I absolutely loved that car but Ford were an absolute joke over the whole sorry episode. They knew there was a problem with the Volvo 5cylinder engine having weak liners and replaced any engine which failed within the warranty period with a new stronger engine (all Focus STs from 2008 onwards had the stronger engine). Anybody who was out of warranty had no support from Ford. It cost me £4000 to have a new engine fitted. As much as I loved the car I will never buy another Ford.

Looks quite good. The digital dash has the centre dial similar to that of Audi's in that shot too.

Is it just me or does the badge on the back look a bit weird mounted on that square base? I think it would have looked better looking more like the one at the front.

Well the Cupra stream today was a bit disappointing. A couple of short speeches and then a short introduction of the Ateca Cupra by a VAG guy who liked the word sporty.

Cheers,

If I have understood correctly the existing Leon 300 will still be sold as a Seat Leon Cupra, so the Seat logo badges will remain although turn to bronze. When the Leon replacement comes (2019?) that will be the Cupra branded car, along with the Ateca etc.
Bit confusing perhaps to have Seat Cupras and non-Seat Cupras sold together but I guess this is only for a transitional period (I think) and Seat were likely to get some flack whichever way they handled it.

Having looked on several motoring sites and forums it seems the general consensus is the new logo is a Fail. I've not seen one positive comment about it.
I just don't understand why they've got rid of the current Cupra checkered flag logo, that actually looks decent imo.

My order for a Cupra 300 is going through tomorrow so it will be interesting to know what it will be badged as when i pick it up in 4-5 months time.

Maybe the badge is a grower on people? perhaps it just looks a little too big on the car, maybe it will look better if it was slightly smaller...?

I do have to agree with the general census in that it does look like something out of Marvel.

Plenty of online sources posted after the event today said the 300 would remain the same.

They said it was unlikely that a CUPRA branded Leon would be released ahead of the 2019 facelifted Leon.

They have just announced a new R ST which is to be SEAT branded also.
