Steering Angle Sensor

Hi All,

First post on the forum!

Unfortunately in the recent snowy weather I managed to go straight on at a corner and slide into a kerb:cry:, putting my steering out (straight ahead now makes me go left) and a lovely scrape on my alloy. After numerous alignment checks at a few different garages and checking out the suspension/steering for anything bent, I have been told that the steering angle sensor needs to be recalibrated which they said would have to go to a dealer/specialist.

Has anyone ever had this before? Is it something I can reset myself or does it have to have it reset properly?

Cheers

Jamie

Is the steering still out?

to re calibrate the sensore you need VCDS or a dealer

there is no point in re calibrating if the steering is still out

Bringing your steering back in to alignment may mean you don't have to re calibrate too

Had this done on my old flat bravo an mazda 3 mps .

Can be done with the proper snap on tools at kwik fit .Had my mate do mine there .

Make sure you get proper alignment done first

Thanks everyone. Had it at a VW specialist this morning, they insisted it was the alignment that was out and it needed a full 4 wheel alignment as the angle sensor wouldn't cause the steering wheel to be off. Had that checked this afternoon and it's fine. Steering is of course still off. Plugging it into my Carista it does come up with a fault code for the power steering which I'm not convinced the first place even checked.

Anyone have any thoughts? Anyone know of someone with VCDS in the Suffolk/Cambridge area who won't charge the £00s a dealer will just to read the codes??
