Hi all,

I’ve found condensation on the off side rear indicator lens of my 2015 mk3 Leon 1.2TSi Technology

. From experience, would this be covered under warranty?

I think it’s quite common. When I got mine replaced there was another chap getting his done too. Both replaced under warranty with no issues since.

Yes very common. I had both rear light clusters replaced under warranty on my previous Leon.

Thanks for the replies all, Arnold Shark want a £90 investigation fee, refundable if it is found to be legit warranty work, so I just wanted to be as sure as I can be that it would be covered.

I have the same problem on my 2015 FR, SERE Seat rejected changing it under warranty but didn’t charge me anything for looking at it. I’ve got it booked into another Seat dealer in just over a weeks time and they want £79 for a diagnostic fee. At first when booking it the fella on the other end of the line said it wouldn’t be covered as warranty doesn’t cover lights but I insisted they take a look at it as it’s a common problem on the Leon.

Hmm, I might try contacting Seat customer services to see if they can give me an idea. I don't want to waste £90 which could go towards a new light. It's troubling that it seems a bit arbitrary whether it's covered or not.

I don't understand why people still go to Arnold clark for anything that's not pre paid (like service plans bought at point of sale)

For things like this, take it to a seat or VAG dealer. Arnold *unts only care about money, hence £90upfront which I guarantee you they try everything not to refund you.

Avoid Arnold clark 99% of the time, the 1% is for when you really have no choice but to use them.

I’d suggest driving to Hollis Motors in Dover as they didn’t even question it but I’ve just seen you’re in Newcastle... maybe next time you need to catch a ferry get it booked in

Unfortunately they're the only Seat dealer in my area

In that case if you pay £90 and it isn’t covered and you don’t have another dealer to take a look at it, give Michael Hindle a shout from Seat Worcester, he’s on the forum and I emailed him asking for a price and he said £96 including VAT and including delivery to me in Northern Ireland.

Its strange how some dealerships refuse to honour the warranty whilst other do. I have had two nearside outer rear light clusters and one offside outer rear cluster. Both sides were replaced within the last few weeks for the second time in the case of the nearside unit under warranty on my 15 plate.

Update: I rang the nearest non Arnold Shark Seat dealer to me; SG Petch in Durham and it was a completely different experience. Yes they said, it will be covered, no need for a diagnostic charge and we'll order the parts in for when you bring it down. It's a bit more of a drive, but worth it I think

Closer than my suggestion of Dover. Not really sure how any garage can suggest or justify a diagnostic charge for a leaking light cluster

Just a bit and no, me either, especially when the only equipment required is a mark 1 eyeball

Did they ask you for £90 just to look at it?

No decent garage asks for money up front, your Arnold clark just don't want to do small warrenty jobs and have to claim the money, they'd rather put you off and have their mechanics working on profitable jobs.
