Errors Errors Errors! and not starting all the time

1.4Tdi BNV
A few things going on - namely the car has been difficult to start sometimes, taking several attempts. It was showing this error

16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
P0322 - 35-10 - No Signal - Intermittent

I cleared the error codes - fitted new glow plugs as I believe they've never been replaced all was well for a few days then wife reported that she struggled to start it, the steering went funny and the check engine light came on. We now have the following:

3 Faults Found:
17911 - Load Signal from Alternator Term. DF
P1503 - 35-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16725 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)
P0341 - 00-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
P0322 - 35-10 - No Signal - Intermittent

P1857 - 000 - Error Message from ECU - Intermittent

As there are so many faults suddenly being reported I'm wondering if there's a single underlying issue?

I'd guess, just a guess, that you need to check out the charging system in that car - that would be battery, alternator and interconnected wiring including load sensing wiring and excitation wiring - after checking/sorting that lot out, clear all logged faults and take it from there.

Sounds like a plan. I think I'll send it to the autospark this week

Dying battery gives out tons of weird error messages, they ain't real.

Replace the battery and they all go away.

Been to the autospark, replaced Crank sensor and that's got rid of that error but it still doesn't always start. It's reporting cam sensor though so perhaps that next.

I did mention it again to the autospark He thinks it's fine and the error its showing could be caused by the constant cranking when it refuses to start.

I also got weird errors when my alternator stopped working and the battery voltage dropped lower and lower. It also wouldn't start.

What's the battery voltage?

I haven't checked the voltage personally as I've just handed it over to the autospark (again) but I'm told the battery is fine.

Well.... Car is back after having the cam sensor replaced now . He also did find a connection to the alternator that was dodgy .
I'll let you know in a few days if the starting issue goes away
