Holding a car to be Registered on 1st Sep

Hi there.

I ordered a 1.4eco Leon FR a couple of weeks ago and have been quoted 18-20 weeks for it to arrive. If it does take 20 weeks, this lands on 30th Aug. If I wanted to wait and have a 68 plate, how would I go about doing this? I'm not sure at what point the car gets registered (When it gets delivered to the UK at port, or when it arrives at the dealer). I'm not sure if they are able to 'hold' the car and register it later on. If they are able to though, would the dealer have the car available to be picked up in the 1st Sep?

Any info would be great.

The dealer should register when you ask, but, they may want to do it in August if they need the sale for a target hit, ask them to hold for the September plate change although loads of folk don't care about plates now, we sell cars all year round now especially so many cars are on lease deals now.

whist you're there, ask if the WLTP reg's (starting 1 September) will make ANY difference
