Odd DCC Suspension behavior... Help!

I recently bought a 2014 MK3 Cupra and I am convinced the suspension bounces around more than it should when hitting bumps big or small, it's just not compliant! even on the smoothest looking roads the car bounces around a bit and when I hit a bump instead of just one up and down motion it continues for a second or so.

Car came fitted with new Goodyear eagle f1s fitted and I have also noticed the steering is ever so slightly off centre when driving straight.

I have owned non DCC Mk7R and Mk7GTi and I do not remember either of these feeling like the DCC.

Has anyone has or experienced anything like this before? It happens irrespective of mode and I have checked for faults using vcds and there is nothing. Might just be me but defo feels a bit odd. It could just be me...

Did vcds scans and there are no faults, also no odd noises etc.

Photo is a good way to describe what I feel. I have spoken to two others who have the same issue and like me don't want to throw money with out a definite fix. So hoping someone somewhere has has this issue and has resolved it.

You would think. No leaking, no knocking, no broken springs, no error codes. One well known specialist said they can not help.... I know of others with issue, and seat sat its normal and won't fix as nothing is visibly broken.
Suspension likely knackered on at least one corner. Garage time!

Shock performance can degrade with no external signs. Oil loses viscosity and froths under hard use, internal seals start to leak, etc.
Ask any bike rider. Generally they start to tire after around 50,000km.
There are shock testing devices that mount on the car and can test damping in place.

Tried to video it...

I am not really pushing car to hard and even at end closing door you see car become unsettled for a second or so

Sounds like a description of broken shock absorbers.

The old test is to push down on each corner, then release. If the car bounces more than once on a corner you should check the spring.

Pushing just one corner doesn't cause car to bounce as it does from pushing it from the side

Momentum Makes Your Car Nose Dive, Lean Back, or Roll
Shocks or struts can be in need of replacement when you notice the following related issues:

  • Your car “nose dives” when braking (it leans forward).
  • Your vehicle “rolls” to the side when cornering (it leans side-to-side).
  • Your car “squats” during acceleration (it leans backward).
Says Google :)

From personal experience the only other thing to have a quick look at would be wheel bearings

Take it to an mot centre and get them to put it on the shock test that should highlight if a shock is knackered. I'm from Northern Ireland dunno how different the test is in England.

Thanks all. After sitting as a passager I am now also convinced it is only happening on the driver's side. So reckon its likely front shock

So the bounce is damped correctly? Rebounds only to the start point? It doesn't sound like a dud shock.
I've just tested mine and can barely move it. Probably quite a bit of stiction on shock seals and suspension bushes.

I think I have the same issue with my cupra 300. Suspension just feels unsettled. I hit a bit of a bump / pot hole at low speed (less than 20mph) after only owning the car a few days and it made a hell of a bang but not much movement through the car. I didn't see it coming or in the mirror after, nor on my subsequent trips down that road. I half wonder if something just blew. Anyway, since then it just seems underdamped. I should get some time over the next few weeks to start investigating. I have no faults logged either. I'll let you know how I get on.

Sorry to hear this, would be great to know if you managed to find issue or resolve it. My plan next month is to replace the the front driver's shock, as I am convinced it is just the front driver side where the issue is coming from

Seriously?

I know it's more expense, but I believe the conventional wisdom is that suspension components generally should to be replaced in pairs: if you do the offside damper, the nearside should really be changed also.

I seem to have solved the issue with my car. I thought I would start with the basics and get the front wheels off and visually check for damage. They were OK. So I went to the local tyre place and had them check the balance. One was 25g out and the other 35g. They corrected this and so far it seems to have cured the issue. Next I'll be looking to correct the steering wheel being a couple of degrees out which has been the case from new. It drives straight, just the steering wheel is out. The tyre place says they see a number of brand new cars (all makes) with the geometry not set right. It seems quality control is not the best these days as manufacturers push out volume.
