And I like (need) the comfort of tyres that have more air so wouldn't do this mod even though sorely tempted.

Think I'll have to stick with keeping the brakes in good order and decent pads and restrain any silly speeds.

Out of interest what size are the disks on the pd150 TDI 1.9 Leon ? My friend has a golf gttdi and his are not what I thought they would be...312mm...if that's the case on the TDI leon you only need the carriers from a cupra 1.8t or S3 and buy the 312mm disks and pads. Calipers are the same and will fit both size pads, carriers are the only difference. Relatively cheap upgrade.

ARL has got 280mm, and you indeed need the carriers and of course 312mm discs etc.

Curious, why are you looking at Brembo's on what I presume is a standard 150diesel if you just bought it?

Maybe he wants to do it the right way. Brakes first, then powerup ;)

He won't get such an inciease in power from the 150diesel to warrent big brakes without dropping a tonne of money.

And if he is planning to do all that work, he wouldn't be on here asking if Brembo's will fit....

No offence intended, just an observation....

Ive got faith in people;) ps you can pretty easily do 250/300hp these days :) ps.2
The 1M cupra R has got 4pot brembos ;)
PS.3. even the stock ibiza cupra tdi has got optional 4pot (forgot the brand - not brembos)

I hope he does it / proves me wrong but you see a lot of these sorts of posts for big braking power on average powered cars and it's usually just because big brakes look good, in which case it's a waste of money

No intension of bigging it up but looked on gsf site for discs and pads and there is an option of brembos 280 mm discs and I would rather have a premium brand
But has you guys have said I was under the impression that only the petrol cupra could have brembos unless you went on an expensive upgrade which I have no need for. Don't know if it's a mistake on gsf but I will contact brembo and inquire
Thanks

Ok that makes sense you're not actually looking at an after making set of brembo brakes, those are just brembo branded pads.

Brembo make OEM fitting pads for nearly any car.

All makes sense now @Pew. i was wondering for a while, why would he want to ask about stock discs thinking about a BBK

There's a few inaccurate statements above that id like to correct...

The mk1 Leon Cupra & FR TDI came with 288mm front discs as standard.
A few random ones in fact came with 312mm front discs, my own included.
No records of them ever been upgraded either and had a very sensible previous ownership history.
For those wishing to upsize to 312mm discs it's very simple and only requires the larger discs and carriers.
A minimum of 16" wheels are required for these or the rims will not clear the calipers.

Leon Cupra R Brembo calipers use 323mm discs, these are easily fitted but you'll also need the correct hoses, splash guards and ideally run 18" wheels.
It's possible to use a few select 17" wheels but even the few that do fit you're likely to need at least 15mm spacers for calipers clearance.
