As per title. Mine is throwing an error, and it seems to be the passenger side under the carpet.

Is it easy to get to - googling it mentions cleaning it with contact cleaner

Remove seat
Unclip door sill trim
Peel back carpet
Unbolt the sensor from the floor plate
Unclip cable
Done

I would try checking the airbag connection plug under the seat first. And cables under the carpet wuld lead you to the sensor. It might be a loose plug while adjusting the seat position. Its easy to get to it ; good luck

Is there any way of getting to it without removing the seat - maybe cut a piece of carpet?

I've heard of people slicing the carpet open but it's not something I'd do.

If I do slice it open, which side of the bar is the connector located - front or back of the bar?

Front of seat rail, you'll also need to cut through the thick sound deadening and risk cutting the wiring beneath.
Seriously just whip the seat out, it's only 2x 13mm nuts at the front of the seat base and 2x T20 torx screws on the rail covers at the rear.
