I know there are a fair few threads about this,but the question is.........is it actually possible to update
this system,without getting ripped off.

Did you update the maps? And if so, did you take a backup/copy of the existing files from when it worked?

I copied my working files to pc then downloaded new files onto it. Just tried a v6 card out a 2018 ibiza andits saying thecsame

Ok so you need to go to the backup files you took of the working card, and navigate to \maps\EEC\EEC_WLD and copy the OVERALL.NDS file from there to the same location on the card. You’ll need to overwrite the existing file on the card.

Make sure you don’t overwrite the backup files you have.

This is exactly what i done pulled the file from the backup copy (obviously copy and paste instead or removing it) still nothing

Make sure the folder structure is exactly the same - so when you open the SD card, it has ‘maps’ and then the folders inside are all the same.

I'm sure 5FO is MIB1 and can't be updated with the workaround. It's also unlikely that you have 'Mapcare' if its a UK car.

So is there an idiots guide to updating? I am no computer expert, and don't want to brick my satnav, but I would like the latest updates.

Yes but the files you can download now are the newer ones that I couldn't get to work. I emailed the company asked them if I could be sent the old files but they said no.

how did you get the old files to work on mib1 without mapcare ?

i tried various versions on the original v3 card and none worked. such a scam these inbuilt systems. a dumb screen with mirroring would do
