Just wanting to know the difference between the cupra 280 and 290.

I know the exhaust is different but is it just a silencer removed?

Is the extra 10hp from the exhaust?

Is the differential, suspension, body panels etc all the same?

Cheers

Regarding the exhaust I've asked this question before.

There is a silencer removed and it's made out of titanium.
I've also read that it has a larger bore (never had this confirmed though)
The changes in exhaust catered for the extra 10bhp.

Not aware of any other mechanical or panel differences.

Hopefully someone with a better technical knowledge can comment.

The infotainment was updated for the 290 and some have apple car play (I think)

IMO the 290 is the sweet spot as it sounds better than a 280 but looks the same. I prefer the look to the face-lifted 300

exhaust and slight extra torque in mid range, some gained Android Auto/Apple Carplay and obviously a different badge.

F##k sake... I should have bought a newer car

There was an activation fee for it but it's there.

My only gripe with the 280 is the lack of exhaust note on the stock manual.

At least with the DSG there is audible feedback outside of the soundaktor.

Oh ok, I thought the torque changed from 350nm to 380nm when it got to the 300. Didn't realize there was a change from 280 to 290.

I don't think that the amount of torque changed but seem to remember that the rev range in which it is developed is slightly wider. All on paper at least, as a rolling road will prove that the torque curve isn't completely flat and that 276/286bhp is a bit pessimistic.

A bit bored so I've been looking through the workshop manuals available on here and have seen that some SC models with certain engine codes have an electronic exhaust valve. Not sure if this was available in the UK but if you think your SC sounds ok, that might be why.

Some engines also have oil level sensors (which I would love to have)

This litteraly popped up on my way home tonight. First time I've ever seen it, had the car 33 months.

Not sure how much is left..

Put some in it before you drive it again. Those warning tend to come on when it’s critically low, annoyingly

I think theoldboy was referring to a level sensor that shows the oil level rather than a low level warning.
