There's no way I would sell my FR TDI in one piece as id lose too much money plus it's loaded with goodies ready for the next Leon anyway.
I've just started breaking it this week as it happens...in fact I've not sold a complete drive away car for about 13 years or so lol

Yeah but people will rise above it and stations will close because of the cost! It happened before. But the best places to get petrol are the most busy places as they will charge rock bottom. Yet if you go out in the middle of nowhere, expect them prices to be higher! I'd also try n get friendly with local farmers! Surly they have fuel, just keep it on the low

I managed a respected 35.9 mpg today. Way better than normal.
Keeping off the loud pedal helps.

Oil price has fallen this week (https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/07/oil-markets-us-crude-inventories-diesel-gasoline-in-focus.html) but I think the following comment sums up the current state of the market

"The main driver of oil prices, in our view, remains the reimposition of U.S. ... sanctions against consumers of Iranian oil," Standard Chartered said this week. so once again we are in for a bumpy ride on prices plus we in the UK are being hit by the dollar exchange rate.

But this is just another cycle of prices (up and down and up and down etc)

When its expensive you use your right foot with care, when its cheap foot on the floor.

I have no gas where i live so have to use oil for central heating, sometimes bad sometimes good.

Problem is the petrol companies rarely bring it back down in line with the drop in price of a barrel of oil. So it just keeps rising.
£1-43-9 for V power where I am FFS.

And on the other hand in 3 years time I won't be able to drive past the south circular into London without paying £12.50 for the privilege thanks to the extension of the ULEZ. Old diesel cars in London will be worthless.

Yup and petrol cars before 06.
Will be banned or 12.50 a day.
Bloody Sadiq Khan at it again.

Back to the original post, I got bored and started thinking about 265bhp at stage 2? I would of thought it to be around the 280mark but am wondering what can be done to get to stage 3. So take a look at some of the receipts this car has.

Hi your receipts show a new cam belt and water pump.
A splitter, suspension bits but not much more.

Stage3
Just a name.
You will need an upgraded fuel pump and larger BOSCH 550 injectors along with a 3” downpipe and decat preferably.
In order to get any higher gains.
Be it a custom map or a stage 2.

Stage 3 as it were, you’ll need to Forge the con rods ( about 1600 quid )in the engine
Otherwise they will bend with the high torque figures damaging pistons and rings along the way.
Probably want to go big turbo too
To be sure of figures in to 300s
Can do hybrid turbo (grand and up )
But I’ve heard of these setups not reaching the desired 300bhp mark.
Bill at Badger5 was telling me today as it goes.
These engines and their turbos in most cases have had spirited drivers behind the wheel. If they come with a list of owners and high mileage, chances are They have been flogged to death and will not produce the expected results unless major parts are replaced or reconditioned.
( turbo )
If high mileage, then the fuel pump will be running weakly if there are no receipts to show a new one was ever fitted .
There are more you want to add for stage 3 like inlet manifolds(800 quid ish ) etc.
Sure others will explain too.
Good luck.
