Out of curiousity, what put you off the VWR?

In all honesty I couldn’t find them , so I haven’t really assessed them. Tried an Internet search and came up with medical stuff lol.

You got a link I could look at?

My knowledge of mechanical stuff is way way basic

The cost of the VWR one is much more, but it’s so much better than the inserts :)

Hi all, hoping this is okay to post in! I have a 2016 290 Black (in silver... hehe) - it's a right mofo with wheel hop (at least I think).. When you accelerate and it gets wheelspin it judders like mad.. Whole car shakes and is loud, I feel so bad for it, it's brutal. Is this what the wheel hop is any what the mount eliminates?

I want to try and get a powerflex polybush dogbone mount insert which should hopefully reduce hop. Can anyone point me in the right direction or clarify what exactly it will do?

Howdy! What everyone seems to do in order to eliminate wheel hop as much as possible is to install a dogbone mount insert (such as the 034 motorsport one, the Forge one or the APR one, even the Powerflex one you mention) and then change at least the front tyres to some really decent ones - most people go for Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres, but others have tried many other ones and rate them just as much.

The dogbone insert is an easy mod, but after seeing what it done to my mount itself, I’d strongly recommend upgrading to the full dogbone mount kit from companies like Revo, Racingline, ECS (to name a few). It upgrades the whole mount rather than just placing a bit of metal into the mount to prevent movement.

@Legojon can vouch for vibratechnics mounts, @theoldboy can vouch for Revo mounts, and I can certainly vouch for Racingline ones.

Ah brilliant! Thanks for that!

I've got some sticky rubber all round, Pilot Super Sports to be exact!

How much is the entire mount? I presume it would be the actual metal dogbone mount that would be replaced as opposed to the insert?

Thanks,

Nick

The inserts are between £40-70 I believe and the full mounts are like £200+.

But they full mounts are certainly worth the upgrade. Arguably one of the best you can do on these cars for the results you get out of it.

All the insert did for me was waste £50 I could have put towards the full mount. The full mount feels more OEM, reduces wheel hop and gives a sharper pick up of power when you lift the clutch.

I’ve had a closer look at the VWR replacement mount kit that @Legojon has given me info on and it sounds promising. I’m looking at seeing how @theoldboy and @paddy6789 cars are ( as they have Mk3 Cupra’s with a full mount installed) before deciding and I have a few questions which I need clarified.

Does this constitute a modification and should I inform my insurance company?

Does it affect my Warranty in any way?

Hmm, first is a toughie. If you have a decent insurance company, they won't up the premium for it anyway. A "normal" insurance company won't even know what it is. I've never been charged for an upgrade that doesn't up the power with a "normal" or "specialist" insurance company. But best to ring them for peace of mind.

I doubt a dealer would even notice it had changed. Plus, if it doesn't affect the part of the car you are claiming on warranty. Plus, Milltek have uprated dogbone on their warranty requirements! It reduces the flex on the exhaust.

My view any mod to the car should be notified to the insurance.

Any mod to the car can impact warranty, @Maypack I would speak with your local dealer as you know them well and see what they say.
Seat dealers are not that hot on Mods as VW and Audi are but its a risk so talk with you local Dealer and see what they say.

@Legojon with regards to Milltek the warranty is very limited, they don't pay labor charges from memory and also there is a limit to the BHP over stock that they cover. Also if you buy a second hand one it is only relevant to the original purchaser.

VAG fitted mine - they had to drop the subframe and it’s a pain to press into place. Think it’s best left to the garages as they have the tools and ramps needed :)

Yeah, it has to be pressed into place and it has to go in straight, otherwise you'll be in a world of hurt.

Has anyone run the Apr billet stainless dog bone mount? I'm thinking it's got to be stronger and less susceptible to bending over time that the aluminium based mount
