Michelin Pilot Sport 4 seems to be the road tyre of choice. If on a budget Uniroyal Rainsport 3s.

Yokohama Flevas for Wet/winter and Yokohama AD08R’s for Track and roads impressive in the wet for a semi slick.
Brilliant in the dry on road and track.

PS4. I've heard quite a few negatives about the good years. But only great things about the PS4. And can vouch for it having used them on my fr.

My FR came with Pilot Sport3s all round, unbelievably grippy tyres but slightly louder than I'd liked so opted for the Goodyears when it was replacement time.
Really like them theyre still nice and planted but quieter and more comfortable.
Good wheel lip protection as well.

A friend of mine has the PS4s on his Golf and they really are decent and seem to be a marginal improvement of the 3s...bloody expensive though.
