I’ve just had a quick google of what a dogbone mount is but I’m still unsure as to what it does and why it needs changing from the factory one. I have a Cupra 300 so will I need to replace it at some point and what are the advantages and disadvantages of it?

Well, as a general overview. A car goes like this Comfort--balanced--performance(harsh). From the factory the manufacturer wants the car to be sporty, but comfortable for the two kids in the back (and also cheap, but lets ignore that). For comfort, rubber is your friend. It cushions the suspension, the engine, the gearbox. But because rubber is very squishy, it's not condusive to performance. Eg, the more movement the rubber allows in the engine / gearbox, the more slack has to be taken up before the power gets put down.

Therefore enthusiasts tend to change out rubber bushes for poly (plastic) and rubber mounts for solid mounts. The dog bone specifically reduces movement in the engine as it produces torque. Allowing you to put the power down more efficiently as you don't have to wait for the engine to crush the mount before the power transfers. But the more rubber you remove from the car / plastic you add the harsher the ride becomes.

Too much / too little? Ooops, got carried away LOL.

I fit a powerflex insert the other week and was very impressed with the difference it made. Wasn't expecting such a positive change for £40. Worth every penny.
What so just the insert and that’s it? Do you need to buy any tool to fit it?

So which one will I need on a Cupra 300 pal? Is it definitely worth doing would you say? Mine is tuned

There’s one of two ways to go:

Insert - Which is the cheapest and easiest option to do, and could be done by yourself if you are happy to do it. (However May potentially require doing again in the future)

Replacement Mount - Permanent option. I’m looking at the Racingline Mount. This will need to be done at a Garage (VAG Specialist) as it is a lot more complex job.

Personally the Replacement Mount is my preferred option at a cost of around £200+ including fitting. The insert is around £50+ plus fitting but will wear quicker.

Just my twopenneth.

Im also considering this . Where have you found a mount fitted for £200? Most of the mount ive found are over £200 by themselves?

If you look on the forge link, they have a photo of the two, you then need to check under the car to match. I have a 300 and mine is A but you really need to check.
Definitely 100% worth doing it transforms the car and when I done mine it was stock and on Continental’s and it got rid of the wheel tramping. Now the car is Revo stage 1 and on PS4s. You can do it yourself, but you will need a ramp and a torque wrench and the grease. But it is a lot easier to get a garage to do it for you.
I did mine myself and when I removed the bolt, the engine moved slightly, a few mm , but I then needed help with a bar to get the engine back so the bolt would line up.

Yes I’ve had a look mate. Think I’m going to go for the power flex one however. As I’ve been recommended it by the guys at awesome gti. Yes going to check when I get home tonight. I’m stage one also but car is brand new so don’t need new tyres just yet. I have Pirelli P Zeros on at the moment. I think I’ll just get someone to do it for me. A lot easier with less hassle and it’ll be done a lot quicker won’t it haha! Don’t fancy messing about myself and knackering something.

Nah nothing needed for me, but I'm an ex mechanic so kinda cheating.

You just need a socket really. Can't remember the size but nothing special other than that (think we had to use one for spark plugs as the new mount was tight on the bolt head). Very easy mod. Just push the engine around with your hand while you're re-locating the bolt, as it may shift to a point where you can't just reinsert.
