Hi guys and girls!

Been away a while but have been a member since 2005! Thought i'd drop by to say hi!

On my 4th Seat now, previously had 2000 mk1 Leon 20VT Sport, 2002 mk4 Ibiza PD130 Sport, and most recently, a 2010 Altea XL PD105. Had a few other VAG vehicles mixed in too.

Now have a 2008 Leon FR PD170 in Candy White.

Needs a few bits doing to tidy it up and hopefully going to add a few little touches. Already added a Pioneer touchscreen headunit and Audi TT pedals.

Unfotunately, I had to spend £1k plus on it after a month after I was lied to by the selling garage who put it through an MoT the day before with no advisories. Two weeks later, my trusted garage found at least 5 MOT failures!
Got some money back and have since reported both the MOT station and the selling garage to Trading Standards and the DVSA.

Welcome back! Sounds a bit of a nightmare start. I always wondered how garages that sell cars can have an MOT station, surely a conflict of interest and clearly so in this case. Don't blame you for reporting them! Which headunit did you go for? Did it make a big difference to the audio quality? I've still got my stock RNS315. I'm a bit scared to upgrade in case I lose the steering wheel functions. But it could seriously do with something more up to date.

Well the garage itself didn't do the mot. They handed it over to a local mot station to do it.
The name of the tester on the mot certificate was the company director of the mot station according to Companies House! So I think there is definitely something dodgy going on. Especially as others have had similar experiences with this garage according to Google reviews.

But hey ho, it's done now.

The Head unit is the Pioneer DA120 with Apple Car Play. It hasn't affected sound quality at all really although when listening to the iphone, you do need to adjust the sound EQ to suit. I think it's probably something to do with the compression of the music through itunes I feel.

i had it in my previous Seat, the Altea XL but that was unfortunately written off end of last year so the Head unit was pretty much a straight swap into the Leon, just needed a new fascia. Steering wheel controls maintained with the correct ISO adapters. There is a lot of bloody wires to hide behind it i tell you!

Welcome back to the fold!

Nice selection of VAG cars you've had there!

You'll have to get some pics up when you get a chance :)

I also still have the stock RNS310 in my Leon and would love an upgrade... What model is the Pioneer unit you have if you don't mind me asking? Always good if you don't need to re arrange cables in the quad lock lol

Cheers

Hmmm, that's actually a pretty good price as well. A lot of Pioneers I've looked at are nearly touching a grand.

Nice selection of VAG cars you've had there!

You'll have to get some pics up when you get a chance :)

I've also had:
1984 Polo 1.0 Breadvan (first car, beast!)
2000 Polo mk5 1.0 E (first car that got me into modding)
*Leon mk1 and Ibiza mk4 here*
2005 VW Bora 1.9 TDI Highline (heated leathers, cruise etc, nice but a bit boring)
2002 VW Golf 25th Anniversary TDI (loved this car, had full milltek system and remap, child forced sale and still miss it)
2006 VW Jetta 2.0 TDI Sport (great cruiser, alot went wrong with it and it was a pain in the ass and was nicknamed project worse case scenario!)
*Altea XL here*
2007 Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI S-Line (lovely car with leathers and BOSE but had a water leak issue which I just could not sort)

The Ibiza was a pain but i did love it. Several sets of wheels, coilovers, strut brace, fr back box, h&r front arb. Went and handled really well. A guy on here bought it and did ALOT of engine work. It was upto something like 270bhp or something.

To be honest, probably the best car I've had is the Altea XL. It had H&R springs on it and it handled well plus is stuck a set of 8.5 x 17 Audi TT wheels on it which added to the handling, plus it has little touches like honeycomb grille, LCR splitter, oval exhaust trim piece. Unfortunately, while my wife was driving it, we had a low speed collision in traffic with the back of a mk4 golf.

Altea needed new wings, bumper, grilles, bonnet, slam panel, rad, a/c compressor plus more and it got written off
