The official Seat Navigation page is generally static in the text, just the files it links to change and then that is always behind what is on VW and Skoda servers which is why we look to them where you have the where with means to do an update if you have Mapcare, work around or retrofit.

Reckon the released SD cards will always run a month or more behind the release on the servers. That's why new cars get released with the map SD card to follow or one that isnt deemed to be current and people weedle an upgrade out of the dealer.

If the package is open I'd expect the year of release to be readable on the SD card. Not familiar with Mib1. You could download the latest update to Mib1 I made reference to and have a look. Was linked on that German Skoda board but I didn't repost here given the success of using Mib1 standard Mapcare updates is about zero in the UK.

The SD cards must be on a parts catalogue which would sort it out as well. Ekta links.
Thanks for the info.

Well I swapped out my old SD Card with this brand new one and got the "checking navigation data" screen for about a minute but when that was complete the Nav data basis remained 0021 ECE 201 as before

Have emailed SEAT in the hope that someone on their parts team can give me a definitive answer as to which SD Card I should in fact be purchasing for my Mib1 unit.

Did you get an error message saying data not valid or something like that?
Also you need to tell the system to update, I don't think it will update otherwise, but may be wrong.

After I put new SD card in Slot B of glovebox reader unit (where the old card had resided) and switched on ignition, this message popped up for approximately 60 seconds.

AD5FC7AE-4B16-4BF3-8ABE-3F855A1783C3.jpeg

Then switched off ignition and put back the old SD Card and same popup appeared again. There’s no instructions inside DVD case that new card came in, so perhaps I’ve overlooked a step.

We are talking about the standard Mib1. To me you got the same card again if Navi still worked.

A Google finds one of your parts

https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/satnav-underlying-software-fault.409320/

Settings etc should give you the navigation year it's using.

This is the System Information I get under Settings menu, exactly same for both old and new SD Cards. Maybe I should just leave things as they are, lest my SatNav send me to Wolfsburg too!

OK, so I assume this link

https://www.navigation.com/web/WFS/.../-/GBP/ViewContent-Start?EntryID=page.leon5F0

Is the latest map update available (November 2018?), I have the digits 6PO on my radio, so i assume that is MIB2, and I downloaded the file, trouble is, it says it is 12.6GB on the website, but when it is downloaded, I get 12.4GB.

Is this correct, or am I doing something wrong?

Cheers.

Phil.

The link you gave is the mib1 one, which I guess you picked up to the mib2.

The issue is that the Here Map's Seat links arent updated too well which is why we look to the Skoda / VW ones which are all the same except the Seat ones haven't been updated.

See post 1305 for the Mib2 Standard ones for 2019, November 2018 - the latest.

Seat Standard Mib2 is the VW Discover Media.

The change this time round is that Europe is split into a number of groups. Group 5 probably works the best for UK if you are taking the car abroad.... depends where you are going. Anything which lists UK is fine if you don't need cross country access.

Thanks for the fast reply Tell, yes I did pick up the link to mib2, but now I know where I should be looking for the latest maps.

Many thanks.

Phil.

Nope. See post 1386, then post 1305 above. Mapcare rules apply etc. Europe is divided into groups now so you select the one that best fits. 5 is good for the UK.

It will say ECE (something) 2019 when installed which is the November 2018 release, good till June 2019, for the 2019/ 2020 release.

No, it also does not display 70 MPH on all UK Motorways on MIB2, a very flaky release
Ah well they seem to run a two tier system the Discover Media and the Pro. I did read somewhere that the previous Discover Media release was prepared by a different company than Here Maps which may explain why the preparation is problematic. Anyhow that is what I read. Here Maps data but prepared by different people, that was in relation to the previous release.

I see Seat have now updated their Navigation update page to reflect the Mib2 latest release (the one given above, November 2018 release, ECE 2019 series) but for people who like the link to say Seat take the following:)

https://www.seat.com/owners/your-seat/navigation/map-updates.html

Mapcare considerations apply.

Seat post 1418 - these are based on the earlier release of the Maps - VW improved the contents of the file so that they are better bundled. The Seat bundles reflect the earlier release not the revised release.

Might try that one, or the Skoda one (which is v1115) to see if they have the issue with the two speed signs.

Looking at "Bundle 5" as VW call it (DiscoverMedia2_EU_DL2_1120_V10) the SHA1 checksum information provided by 7ZIP once unzipped:

Folders: 823
Files: 5767
Size: 8299995423 bytes (7915 MiB)
SHA1 checksum for data: 364A23D1D5F01DE4FDA79D835B6EF2F36D96317B
SHA1 checksum for data and names: BAC36BB927E9BDC0F918499A547CC85ED978A851

The Seat downloaded one (1120_MP181-1262.xEUR_DL2) of the MAP directory looking at the SHA1 checksum:

Folders: 823
Files: 5767
Size: 8299995423 bytes (7915 MiB)
SHA1 checksum for data: 364A23D1D5F01DE4FDA79D835B6EF2F36D96317B
SHA1 checksum for data and names: BAC36BB927E9BDC0F918499A547CC85ED978A851

So it's identical. If the constructed file signature was difference then the contents would be different.

I haven't checked the other versions but most people I reckon will use bundle 5.

Come January the Seat fleet here goes up here by 1 too 2 and that will have the standard MIB2 on it - so I'll be able to run the MIB2 standard workaround myself. The other has MIB2 High on it running retrofit firmware so all basses are covered :).

I have questions about navi upgrade:
1.) I have Navi Plus(MIB2HIGH) unit without MapCare. Is there way to additional buy MapCare(At Dealer)? Im not from UK and in configuration here has been option for MapCare but we didn't select it.
2.) Currently I have in unit(Without SD Card) 0166 maps is there any way to full upgrade them to P175? Buy some original update sdcard? If yes what PN have?

So what options we(Without MapCare) have to upgrade maps to latest version P175 or if dealer can somehow enable/buy mapcare?

Thanks.

1. & 2. There two are available on the continent

Reference: 000060884 is Mapcare for 3 years the other is a one off although you would have to check which release. Suspect it runs beyond 3 years. Could be Mib1 thou. This one 5F0060884BL I believe is just for a release but not Mapcare.

Ones about £600 (Mapcare post purchase) and the other is half the price. That information I got off a German board. It's available at least there. Think V1 is Mib1 and V2 is Mib2 but I could be wrong thou.

The other way is to get your unit converted to retrofit so the firmware is adjusted to a retrofit unit. All those as I understand it allow you to update maps on the MIB2 High but then you have to find a specialist outfit to do it where ever you live. The update is via a long press on the menu, then the SWDL command and Update with the SD card in. That menu doesn't have sub menus for manual download as it does for a non retrofit unit. You just jumps into the process for all of Europe - you can't do it on the odd country as you can on a non retrofit except it will lock you out. As per previous post ($) if you do this via the developers menu where it's not running retrofit software it will lock you out of navigation until you present it with the SD card that relates to your unit release 0166 in your case or before.

($) see post 699

https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/navigation-system-updates.388586/page-35

These options are withdrawn on retrofit units (greyed out) least on mine. That's the only thing that is different from what I posted before except it works and fully updates the Navdb database.

Tell thanks for your answers. Im contact Seat dealer and see what will they tell me :) If they can't enable it I hope that this is not locked to VIN and I can drive to Austria or Germany Seat dealer and they can enable it...

When Im search(Relay quick search) for retrofit firmwares Im find only MIB2 devices(Small LCD, a lot of buttons) and not MIB2HIGH(bil LCD and only 2 buttons and volume knob) ... I will this weekend look again for some company which can convert my unit to retrofit or exchange it... I m ust also check again, because if I remember Im read that users are with retrofiting lose functions(MirrorLink, DAB, Wireless Charging, BT...)...

It was Walone on this thread that got his unit done in the UK. I had contacted the same company last year but was turned away. I believe now that was due to them not being able to get hold of the firmware. Its the firmware that is modded in a retrofit plus other software things, not the hardware. Depends how good they are at this.

There is a firmware thread on here. I've never changed the firmware myself I know some people do. But for turning a unit into a retrofit you still need the experts. Looking at my previous firmware release and the one they installed which was the basis of the change I could see why my units screens looked different. It had also been uplifted to the latest software going into Seats. It's the firmware that is patched to form a retrofit plus the licenses. Suppose to inherit what you had before but some changes happen.

https://forums.seatcupra.net/index.php?threads/sw-update-for-mib2-infotainment-system.427280/page-20

Since Walone trailblazed this I knew what to check. Get TMC enabled again and check the picture on the screen that is was your car. TMC they hadn't enabled correctly, Walone used VCDS to do his, I got them to do mine. The image was fine. My big worry was loosing all of my calibration settings which are done via the infotainment screen, 360 cameras but the firmware change is really just an update with modded software. I had to change the sound balance and re save radio images. It depends how good these people are at producing retrofit units out of your unit. Its a gamble but least I didnt post it off anywhere had to drive it in a triangle across the country to meet up with the engineer. The process itself took two hours.

Well I reckon given the Navigation High is only fitted into Cupra Atecas now in the UK, there will be a big after market. Seat UK are busy streaming their product into Xcellence, Xcellence Lux and Cupra pushing the stuff you could once order only on the Xcellences range out of the standard Seat range. Navigation High is one of them, ditto the sub woofer 10 speaker sound system. They say its the confirmation of new European fuel measurements and making it easy for people to "buy cars"... smoke and mirrors. I say PCP market in the UK and their fleet of cars they wish to sell on. You don't buy them as personalised now.

Im receive reply from SEAT that I can by MAPCARE(Im send them reference number 000060884 and they find option) but I must drive car to dealer that they activate them by tester...
I will go that route and save headache with retrofiting options...
Thanks for your help and provided informations.
