combustion gas through breather system

I have had my 2012 Alhambra for 18 months, no problems - running beautifully. Then suddenly it lost power on the motorway, no warning lights came on. Got it to a dealer as my own garage could not get any readings from their computer for any faults. Dealer (charging £115 for diagnostic) said they replaced the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve - which SEAT paid for. BUT now they say there is still combustion gas through the breather system. Want almost £600 to strip engine down to try and find the problem, and still say it might require a new engine !! The car is only 6 years old, I can't believe this can be so drastic, it basically would write the car off - has anyone any experience with this or ideas what might be the problem.

thank you

Jean

Take it to a local VAG specialist.
Main dealer mechanics usually only follow manufacturers instructions in my opinion.
