Hi everyone. Am just swapping over to my winter tyres and noticed this wear on the inner edges of both my fronts. The tyres are pretty worn anyway but wondered if I need my tracking doing?

What do you think?

I do 90% motorway driving and it runs straight and true with no wobbles or vibrations.

As you can see from the pics, I didn't pick the best day to work outside on my car!?!

Mine always wears the inner edges early. I took it to a "decent" alignment place that do a lot of race cars. They weren't overly familiar with the Cupra so said it could be a characteristic of the cars setup. Or more likely a consequence of my lowering springs. So question is, is yours lowered?

No, I'm totally standard and kiwi green!

I do rotate front to back every 6 months as I keep winters on the back and also to prevent the common MK2 rear tyre feathering wear and drone. I suppose that might be a factor on the inner edges.

The neighbours are looking at me loke I'm.bonkers as I've finished changng tyres in the storm and have now started washing it. Might not bother with drying it today!

. Brilliant! That's the spirit. I think the neighbours have come to accept mines either being washed or the front ends 2 feet up in the air.

I WOULD DEFINATELY GET TRACKING CHECKED ,AS ONLY NEEDS TO BE OUT BY MM,S TO EAT TYRES,ESPECIALLY WINTER TYRES....ANY ATS OR NATIONAL TYRES CAN CHECK,THE SPECIALIST RACING COMPANY WOULD SET UP DIFFERENT TO ROAD USE ANYWAY,AS SET FOR TRACK ...

Mines not a cupra but I had similar wear and the place I always use says it’s common on modern cars that are “sporty” as having some camber improves handling but will cause inner edge wear.

I would say that looks extreme though so worth getting it checked out.

I would also say that the tracking needs a slight tweak. Probably down to all of the pot holes and speed humps everywhere, as it knocks skittles out of a cars suspension.

I think wheel alignment may be little fragile. Had mine done last year and just had it serviced and they noticed tyre wear on the inside of my Cupra. It was only£40 for the wheel alignment but with all the speed bumps aligned wheels don't seem to last long. I also had Bilstein suspension put in. Oem standard and a year later i do recommend them. Bought from Amazon. Once you put your car details in it sorts out whether the product fits your car. Happy days
