hi my exeo 170 has recently developed a strange breathing/hissing noise. The vehicle went into seat and they advised egrvalve/cooler.
This has been replaced and they advised the noise is still there and they are unsure into what it could be. Has anyone come across this ?

Presuming it's the tdi maybe some little boost leak maybe?
Often a tell tale sign is oil around the boost pipe connections. Worn seals or worn clips can cause it.
Dealers usually sell new seals on their own too, probably the clips too.

Yeah no oil leaks around boost pipe, you can hear the exhaust as if it is a drone /surging noise. Idle not changing . Sounds like a pressure build up

I've got the 2L TDI PD140 Alhambra and it makes a breathy noise as the boost climbs, goes quieter once its passed the initial surge.

Personally I'm wondering about a possible heat shield maybe vibrating slightly at a certain point. Might be worth checking too.

I'm thinking resonance noises, when things hit a certain rpm or pressure it causes something to vibrate.

I've still got to check my boost pipes too although it pulls great.
