Change you're locks on the doors to anti snap locks, that's what I'd do first, end of the day if they want it they'll take it, it's insured and in my eyes if they enter the property its not worth a kicking so don't agree with hiding the eyes etc

W@nkers. I also wonder about door security. But in the meantime. I'd get a tracker (pref. with remote or distance cut off) fitted to it asap.

I've gone for the good old fashioned steering wheel lock. Its more for when I leave the car at the train station as I'd rather they just take the car then have them come into the house looking for the keys.

I'm the previous owner of your Cupra mate :) (that's her in my bio pic) I put 20,000 on it, got the alloys powdercoated and put the carbon wrap on the roof. Also got the Triple R splitter put on. Traded it in for a Golf GTD and have regretted it ever since. Got it machine polished just before I sold it to the VW dealer and put a brand new steering wheel on it because I didn't like the stitching on the 280's (the 290's was updated) so your car actually has a 290 steering wheel. Hope you're enjoying it.

Any questions about your Cupra let me know, me and her are old friends :) I have about a million photos of her which I regularly look back on.

Sorry to hear about what's happened. No advice on that front. I do know the car has been stolen before, I am not sure if this is you??? (although the car definitely is) https://en-gb.facebook.com/myhoylan...-140pm-3-lads-stole-the-keys/938831679604854/

So apologies if I end up highjacking this thread, but last Friday we were broken into. We were out at work in my wife’s car. Cupra sat at home and they’ve assumed the keys were in the house which they weren’t.

They turned the house upside down. Every single room was ransacked, including my 3 and 1 year olds’ bedrooms. They took several items whilst ransacking but didn’t get what they wanted.

We have Ultion locks on the doors, they didn’t touch them. They did however prize a window open. The Police think they were inside the house for around 30 mins given the state of it and did say it was one of the messiest they’ve seen. The house was such a state we had to spend 3 nights in a hotel with the kids.

By the way, this was all at around lunchtime on a Friday.

So we’re currently:

Beefing up with the best alarm we can find
Installing cctv covering all angles round the house including video doorbell (we’re going with Nest for all this stuff)
Sash jammers on all downstairs windows
Some other measures internally...
Disklok for the Cupra.

And whilst we’re doing all that, the Cupra is 200 miles away at a relative’s. It’ll come back when we’ve made it as difficult for them as possible.

Horrible feeling, and as horrible as it is to say hopefully next time they come looking, they realise there’s much easier targets than ours. It’s a violation, I wish the keys were there, and they’d taken the car. As this feeling is much worse than losing a piece of metal.

Thanks for all the replies, @JACUPRA280 love it mate looks good, you did a good job, be nice to see some of the photos you have.
things like this put me off though just cba with the hassle, anyway you don’t have any service history do you it’s all gone walk about since you had her, just got the seat print out.

I’ve got camera’s going up tomorrow front back and sides went with the ring floodlight cameras, i’ll Have to address the locks, but then that just makes me think they’ll aim for windows next time, i’ll Have to tackle them next too.

Trackers ... I’m not fussed about them, what’s the point? if they take it id rather not get it back anyway

Anyone use the posts on the drive? Seen some remote operated ones are they a big job to install?

The service book was provided to VW when I sold it to them. Full main dealership history, and quite a bit of warranty paperwork also. It probably went missing when the car was stolen (see Facebook photos). Is that not you that had it stolen? If not that person probably sold it afterwards and you bought it. Did you know the car was previously stolen and recovered?

That’s a shame, everything’s gone
Unfortunately, No mate it wasn’t me and yes previous owner had told me even though it didn’t show up on the hpi report, they got it back a day or 2 later not far away apparently

Fair enough, these things happen. Hope you got it for a good price. I ran a tuning box on it for 10,000 miles, she takes more power just fine if you ever want to do that. Personally I'd have a locksmith come round and assess your locks. Have window jammers installed, this will eliminate the issue of windows being forced open after you sort the doors.

The best option that also costs you nothing but a short walk is to park your car up the street and not outside your house/on your drive. That way if they look to steal the keys they won't be breaking into your house and won't get the keys.

There’s footage doing the rounds of scum eyeing up an RS6 - right up to the point where they see a Disklok on it and bugger off. Crims don’t want any hassle so useit at home too.

House wise we have just bought what's called a patlock. It's a device that clips over your patio door handles from the inside. Seems quite sturdy. worth a look :) and little stick on alarm that go off when the door is opened.

I'm tempted by the disklok. But worried it'll scratch the gloss black plastic parts of the steering wheel.
