Michelin PS 4's or Toyo Proxes T1r'd I think they were are teh best I have used. Pirrelli Pzero aren't great and I have never had a continental tyre I have liked. I find continental sport contacts (4's & 5's) I've had on previous cars are rubbish in the wet. I usually change them straight away if I have a car fitted with them. The Hankook's that came fitted on my Leon ST are ok, bit loose in the wet

PS4s if you can afford them. Rainsport 3s if you can't.

Rainsport 3s are what I’m fitting next to herself’s car, had them previously and really impressed at the price, Camskills are competitive at the moment.

Yeah, I'm currently on my second full set. Need new fronts soon, so will likely stick with them.

i second this. i was deadset on getting RS3s but i read so many comments talking about soft/fragile tyrres which need replacing fairly quickly. although my car is only a 1.4, i usually have a heavy foot :/

Not that I keep meticulous records... RS3 start with 8mm tread (compared to some brands that start with 7 or even 6!). I've done 12,500 on the front and they are sitting at 4mm (I usually change mine at 3mm). I've done 9,200 on the rear and they are on 7mm. So I expect to get about 15k out the front before I swap them and probably about 20k out the rear. Oh also, I drive like a d!ck, the fronts get well and truly abused.

Seriously?

Mrs Seriously's 1.4 ST came with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo from new. They appear to be grippy in both dry and wet conditions, quiet and wearing well.

Not sure if you are running 225/40 R18s or 225/45 R17 PS4S may not be avaliable in the latter sizes, plus might be a slight overkill for a 1.4. If you have a Cupra by all means PS4S. Since you are coming from the Bridgestones (usually universally disliked by Leon owners me included) most of the other Premium brands should suit you. Have a look here:
If you want outright grip and performance as the others say go for Michellin PS4 / PS4S (will cost a lot). If you want outright treadlife and comfort go with their Primacy 4s. Goodyear's Assymetric and Dunlop Sport range and some of Hankook offerings are not bad either.

Hi, my wheels are18" , my priority is for grip , wear and value for money , as said it isn't really a performance car .

sorry to jump in the thread again, but my current tyres have a profile of 45 and ive seen the same tyres with a profile of 55 work out cheaper. am i right in thinking the only difference is height in the tyre? thinking of just buying the "larger" tyre and saving the extra cash for my next oil change

The height of the tyre affects the speedo. It will give false slow readings.
my speedo already gives false readings. is it difficult to recaliberate

edit: currently the car says i go too fast, it might say 73 but im doing 69/71

On the Leon 16" tyres must have 55mm profile, 17" have 45mm profile, and 18" have 40mm profile. This ensures that they all have the same rolling radius.
A reputable tyre fitter will only fit the correct profile for your wheel size.

Vehicle construction and use regulations require a vehicle speedometer accuracyto be in the range of -0->+10%. The implications are that it must never under-read but may over-read by 10%.

Assuming you have 225/45 R17 profile tyres, not sure 225/55 R17 tyres would actually fit, it would make the wheel huge! Unless u mean getting new 16inch rims to put 205/55 R16 tyres, then yes that would work..then again, if you have the 180PS petrol or 184 diesel, these have larger brakes, not sure 16 inches can clear them..
