The “where the bleeding hell is my Cupra ST I ordered months ago” thread

Hello I am new to the forum, and its my first post. I ordered a cupra ST Lux with pano roof 1st March , and based on what I have read will ring Seat UK again this week for an order update.I did ring in March and was told the order had been noted/ "stacked" but no movement was expected with it until June. I asked whether the factory was on a months holiday shutdown in August and Seat UK did confirm that this was the case. Therefore, my expectation is that I will get it delivered either during July or it would be September instead (in which case awaiting the new reg would be more sensible). Will post whatever reply I get from Seat this week

Well my (useless) dealer phoned me today 12 days after i’d emailed and asked for an update on my order placed 22nd Feb for ST Lux with Pano.

Basically tried to tell me he’d just spoken to Seat and it was still on for mid July delivery, but under questioning it doesn’t even have a build week yet, and then when I mentioned some of the info I’ve seen in this forum re ST wait times, he agreed July was ‘over optimistic’.

I got my SLI number off him and tomorrow I will ring Seat direct and ask what’s going on.

Another phone call to SEAT and another non committal answer from them regarding build week. They said ring back next week and I should have a build week. Not holding my breath! Lets see, the initial date was W21 which is the 20th May. If this holds I might see it in July!?

Rang Seat earlier today, and based on receiving and accepting the factory order wk10, looks like its going to be September earliest before I take delivery. I was asked to ring back wk35 for more accurate lead time

Are u getting it on lease mate? I just can’t personally fathom having to wait that long!

No, I`m purchasing the vehicle (but was told initially the lead time would be July ie likely 20 plus weeks), and understand that when you lease, the delivery / lead times can be much shorter. Also, I have ordered the leon cupra st 4drive with sunroof which appears to have the much extended build week and lead time.

Pretty much same here. Rang Seat directly today and received a very noncommittal answer also.
Was asked to ring back in ‘a few weeks’.

Order has been accepted by factory but not got a build week yet.
This was for a Cupra Lux ST with sunroof order placed 22nd Feb.

So basically 11 weeks in and nothing

It does amaze me that in this day and age there isn't more detail about the process and where your order sits in it from Manufacturers. My guess is that they are waiting to hit a threshold for numbers before they start on the ST backlog. There was a post somewhere on here on lead times at the factory but I don't think it has been updated for a while. Apart from body work and exhausts etc there can't be that much difference between the 5 dr hatch and the ST?

Thats what you get when buying a SEAT :blink:Volkswagen have tracking thru the process and until it sits at the dealer. And Volvo you can track thru their app

They have no idea when it will get a build date and couldn’t provide any info I when I might get the car.

Spec ordered: Cupra ST, Mystery Blue - no extras
Date ordered: 7th Feb 2019
Date Seat accepted order: No idea
Type of order: Lease
Who with: Seat Swindon
Date give for delivery by dealer/broker/leasing company: 13 weeks from order placement (so, should have been week starting 13th May...)
Date given for Build week from Seat: 13th May!!!
Date given for delivery given from Seat: Mid June ish

All my dealer has done is email me every month to say "No news". I got a call from Seat in late March telling me delay on build and no build week confirmed. Called me late April to say should be build 13th May but they will call me to confirm on that day. Delivery anything from 2-5 weeks from then on. If the car gets delivered in June then technically I will only have waited an extra month - but the lack of info from dealer has been shocking

From Leasing Options about my Cupra. I'd say those of us with an ST on order are being set up for a let down

"The newest update from the dealership is a provisional build week of w/c 09/09/19!

Unfortunately until a build date is secured and confirmed, the dates just move around.

A high volume of the Leons have all been pushed back to September build due to a factory issue. But at this stage we just do not know if, when or how much the build dates will move.

All that we can do at the moment is keep you updated."

Spec ordered: Cupra ST Lux, Magnetic Grey + safety/convenience pack
Date ordered: 1st April 2019
Date Seat accepted order: 3rd May
Type of order: Lease
Who with: Seat Dealer
Date give for delivery by dealer/broker/leasing company: 14 weeks. End of July
Date given for Build week from Seat: none so far
Date given for delivery given from Seat: dealer still adamant its end of July and no later.

Spoke to the dealer today and he's had an update about a delay to Lux spec builds meaning deliveries being pushed back to October.
He however is of the view that it only applies to new orders and therefore orders already accepted by the factory shouldn't be effected.
I'm unconvinced so he's promised to get back to me in the next week with a more concrete update.

This was my email from 06 February saying accepted;

"Just to let you know your order is all accepted by the factory and we are just currently awaiting build dates to come over from the dealership - once these start coming through we will be in touch to update you on the ETA.

Documents will be issued once we are advised of the registration number around a couple of weeks before it arrives into stock."

I'd be very surprised if anyone that ordered a Lux after me gets a delivery beforehand...

Yeah I agree, my dealer info conflicts with what Seat Customer service are saying!
Especially as I don't even have a build week yet, can't see how it gets one before the factory shutdown in August.

Wonder what the factory issues are? My Leon Cupra R ST was built ahead of schedule. Maybe something with you guys having the steeringwheel on the wrong side :D Feel bad for you guys, hope all ends well.

It's worth the waiting guys! I ordered my ST in early March 2018, took delivery mid December ...ended up with MY19 "copra" Magnetic grey with pano roof & the heated buckets seats from the old spec.
Absolutely love the car Only negative in 7.5k miles thus far is it's too quiet & you cannot to the old res delete mod to increase noise due to new GPF arrangement in the exhaust system. That said I've debadged my car & it's pretty stealthy which I like.
