I’d feel cheated knowing that the old engine produced 30-40bhp more?

Your forgetting that this is a 2.0l and not a 3.0l, still we all know they could push this 2.0l to later 300's anyway.

I never read the advert, so it’s only a 2.0 that’s even worse, stolen 2 cylinders as well. That for me was a massive attraction although I still chose the cupra..

Nope, just nope!

I came from a BMW M140 2017 and went to a Leon Cupra ST 300 2019.
Old car had about 40000miles and Cupra just 5000miles, yet i had about 3500euro left after buying the Cupra.

Im sure the new M135i Xdrive will be even more expensive...
Yes build quality is better and so was sound proofing and the exhaust note.
But now when the M135 also has a GPF and a 4cyl, its no way worth paying a 10-15k euro premium for a smaller car just because it has a BMW badge...

This is the reason why I sold my Cupra 290 in December a good year earlier than I had planned .. so I could get the M140i with the 3.0 straight 6 and RWD whilst they are still available.

Like all the new BMWs that grille is far too big. The black one looks OK but the schnoz on the blue one is massive!

Bit of a shame it no longer has a 6 cylinder engine but it'll be better to drive and have more room inside as a result.

Here's a video review of its taller cousin.

After having had a M235i and M140i this new model does not interest me in the slightest, the best thing about the older cars was the engine and rwd. This is now based a on a Mini platform which says it all really, will be fwd then 4wd when needed so no fun.

No doubt it will be a great car but depends how they price it, but as people have said you are getting far less from this new model. I would imagine they will being out a 140 version with more power similar to merc and the new A35 and upcoming A45

i hate the front vertical intake design, it just looks odd and out of place, actually the entire front end just looks like they just gave it a big grill, then the rest was just an after thought.

If FWD is no fun why you hanging out on a SEAT forum?

Had an M140i...but not for long.

Great engine, rest of the car very average, suspension particularly poor.

This may be better if suspension set up is better resolved, but not bothered about it in the slightest.

Definitely not my cup of tea, even if it kept the 6 cylinder the design is just woeful.

@simonali I think he's referring to the AWD coming into play when pushing on.

I'm a liking AWD. I swapped a Golf R32 for my now gone Leon Cupra and immediately regretted it. The Golf would never have kept up with the SEAT on the right road in the right conditions but how often does one get that perfect combination in the UK?
