Bam 225

Evening everyone
I’m quite new to all this and I’ve been looking to find a decent Leon cupra r to tinker with one of the older ones
I’ve come across a lot of discussions about bam and amk and so forth
What I don’t know is if these are custom fitted engines or standard engines remapped
Or standard engines customised with uprated parts and mapped
Can someone inform me once and for all please?
I am looking for a car for a project for myself basically to have a bit of a laugh with and customise in my garage thanks any help appreciated

Both BAM 225bhp and AMK 210bhp were fitted from the factory to cupra R's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SEAT_León#Engine_choices

perfect thankyou very much I’ve read that they both re map to the same bhp but is there one that’s better than the other or is it more personal choice?

It's basicly the same engine apart from the map. 03 plate onwards use bam. The bam and amk have 20mm wrist/gudgeon pins and the other 1.8t's eg. The auq's have 19mm pins. The amk and bams have forged pistons pins crank n cams. But not the con rods
