What was the cost of your solicitor been quoted nearly £750 to be represented. I know I’ve got to take my medicine but just trying to keep my license and job

Not going to lie, mine was expensive, more than double your quote. My job wasn't on the line but I'd say spend as much as you can it could make the difference

So the police car was part of the convoy you were passing? Did he pull out the second you passed him?

Amazed he can judge your speed of 108mph in the time it takes to pass 3 lorries. I thought they had to follow you while speeding for a minimum of a quarter of a mile to prove you were exceeding the limit.

Furthermore i have seen where police have claimed they had to do 120 mph to catch someone, when in reality its not surprising, as a car standing at 60mph trying to catch a car doing over 90mph would need to massively exceed the speed of the car they are pursuing to catch up.

Yes he in between the lorry’s and what puzzled me he said he heard me coming didn’t realise that a stock exhaust on a 300 was that load and also that the sound insulation on a BMW was that poor. When I looked in my mirror I spotted him coming so reduced my speed. Regretting now not looking at the video footage

sounds like he has tried to do it on the 'calibrated speedo' by following you for a set distance. I would be wanting to see what the evidence is against you before you accept it.

But I’ve signed the slip not sure if I can ask further evidence now. Just regret not seeing the footage I was that FD off I just wanted to get out of there

Two ways he can track and measure your speed. Point to point from shadow of your car to a marker. Or calibrated camera from front number and sonic back to his. Distance travelled by speed. Unfortunately the other is the facts he’s a copper lol. Paper scissors law wins. The copper showed me his hand held cam from his biker plus I knew I was tanking it

I would still go to court with a good solicitor, as they would have to submit the video evidence to prove you were doing the claimed speed. They can't claim they clocked u at 108mph and just because you signed it the speed is deemed as fact without footage to back it up.

The copper offered to show him. The copper wouldn’t be calling his bluff. It’s amazing to see the positive side and try and find the loop holes. But your probably gonna be best to be remorseful and hold your hands up and explain your life and situation

You only signed receipt of the paperwork, not admitting the offence. That happens in Court. You can still put your hands up at Court and be remorseful etc but like I say it depends on seeing the evidence. A solicitor should ask for that on your behalf.

108mph on your speedo would be closer to 115mph due to calibration. There is no way a cupra will go from 70mph indicated to 115mph in the time it takes to overtake 3 lorries. Maybe he was tanking it on the approach anyway so he is screwed.

If he was caught by a mobile camera at the side of the road then fair enough, but for a car to accurately record his speed from the middle of a convoy is unlikely in my eyes.

Talk to a solicitor, a traffic specialist. They can often get charges reduced or dismissed, plus they are much better at pleas of mitigation.

I thought it might be. Right near to headquarters. Unlucky chap. I’m from Eastwood. You local?
Yes Belper mate tbh I thought I had reduced my speed quick enough for him not to clock me over the required distance needed for the average.

Yes I’m not contesting the speeding fine my own stupidity, just trying to get the most lenient punishment. With the school runs and me and her in doors both working shifts it will be near on impossible without me having a car. And if I do get a ban which looks likley it will affect her job also

Yes already rang a few for quotes and tbh it’s out of my league and would be double the cost of the potential fine coming to me. I’m sure I can grovel and plead my case of the consequences of what a ban will affect not me but my children and possibly my wife’s job also

Hi All,
I know it was stupid and feel totally embarrassed and guilty over this. But Just got done for speeding 108mph on a duel carriageway on my own clear conditions, just went pass a row of lorry’s and briefly gave it some poke and in between them was a unmarked police car. Will I get banned for this as I need my car to get to work due to shift work and no public transport and also for the children on school runs and other normal dad taxi activity

A ban is inevitable I'm sorry to say. 7-56 days.

I don't know UK Police guidelines, but here it was a minimum 200 metres for a pursuit check. Sometimes the court would accept less if the offender overtook a patrol car. These days our Police never do pursuit checks, everything is checked by Lidar or Stalker radar.
