Hi all,
I'm looking at a possible Cupra 280 (fed up of the 184 diesel) i've saw one with a 6'5 screen but only shows MIrror link as a feature not the full Apple Carplay/Android Auto, Im wondering if anyone knows if you can pay for that to be added?
also whats your opinions on the below cars
Thanks in advice btw the Red one has mirror link only that I know of.

Cars are a personal choice so its really down to what you like the most.

Personally I would not want the first one in your list simply because of the millage (the other two are much lower)

When looking at these cars check the following

1/ Service history has the DSG and LSD Oil been serviced - And double check its all be done according to plan

2/ What rubber have you got on the cars - They come with rubbish rubber from the Factory so make sure you have good ones otherwise you will get wheel tramp

3/ Check the condition of the Wheels, the Diamond Cut looks great but they do suffer with damage due to weather

4/ Check the rear lights there are some examples of cracks and water getting in and damaging

5/ Check the front lights as there are some people who have a fine dust on the inside of the plastic and it dont look nice and dimms the lights a bit

6/ Check the white edging on the seats as there are several threads on here for this cracking, if it looks like that then get them to fix it before hand.

7/ If you have a obd reader ask then check to see if there are internal errors being reported.

I would also check with your insurance company for how much its going to cost (if you have not done so already)

I don't have mirror link but I personally don't miss it as I use this motor for its power not its in car gadgets - very personal view.

I currently have a 65 plate 280 and it was a MY16.
It has the little USB input box under the infotainment unit and the larger screen.

When it came to full link although I had the hardware I was required to pay an activation fee I think it was £150 at the time.

This opens the full link i.e mirror link, AA & carplay.

N.b they were also required to replace some of the hardware part of the activation process but it was included in the fee.

So basically if the box is there you'll be able to activate tge service if hasn't been already, but it will most likely be chargable.

Can you have one or the other?

Would have thought that if the car has mirrorlink activated that it would cover the other two also?

As far as I'm aware the service is called "full link" and it's all or nothing at activation.

I think at some point during MY16 or when the 290 landed it was all activated as standard.

VW also offered Apple car play as an option from 2016 model year cars fitted with the updated MIB2 infotainment units. It cost £100 if it was specified as part of a new car’s build but it’s standard on new VW’s now.

If Seat is anything like VW, Apple car play isn’t compatible with all infotainment units in 2016 model year or later VW’s. If it is, but wasn’t specified as a factory fit option by the original owner, the cost to retrofit is around £245 (assume the cost would be similar for Seat?), provided it’s compatible with the infotainment unit in the car.

Apple Car Play is also part of the Full Link Activation.

So for anyone paying for Full Link gets the Apple and Android phone connection choice on the MIB2 unit.
