Hi everyone. I was looking at a focus St for my next car but running costs are high, £200 a year to tax and high insurance etc. I stumbled across a seat leon fr fr 1.4 ECOTSI technology locally. Looks cool as well as been £30 year to tax. Its done 32k on a 2016 plate. Are these engines good and generally reliable? Thanks for the help.

Same car I have - loving it so far. Nippy, cheap to run, good spec.

Only issue I've heard about is a noisy switch to 2 cylinders from 4 when it goes eco - I don't have this problem on mine though. I had the same engine (albeit lower power) in my Golf and no issues there either (with the engine anyway!).

I have the same car.

Cant fault it, great little engine averaging 60 mpg on the motorway, it can run on 2 cylinders up to 79 mph on the motorway, flooring in town it can get as low as 22-25 mpg so best of both worlds.

I came down from 180 BHP so it's missingthat extra power I was used to, depending on what you have now it may be an issue.

I have access to the same car. They are better than the later 1.5 eco - gearing was changed for the worse so better off with the 1.4. Great car.

I've just bought a 17 plate 1.4 TSI 150 bhp only had it a couple of days but it's great as you said £30 a year to tax and on the drive home wa getting 55 mph without trying. Coming from an astra Sri that struggled to do 36 mph massive improvement.

Geraint, your name is familiar mate! Were you on the Celica club forums a while back? With the nice blue T Sport?

I've had a 2016 1.4 (150ps) for a couple of months now, and it's wonderful. The engine is quiet, and very smooth to drive.

Getting 40-45 mpg around town and the back roads, and 48-50 mpg on long runs.

Hi, i have this engine in my Leon ST, it's a peach of an engine, quiet, economical and surprisingly punchy for a 1.4 !

Had one in the past and loved it. My wife drove it mostly and she was very disappointed when I traded it in for a Leon Xcellence 125.... that was until she saw her new car was her favourite colour...Purple.

I then traded her Ibiza FR for a Mk3 Leon CUPRA 300 for myself and I’m super happy lol

Had mine for two months absolutely in love with it, went from a 2005 toyota yaris 1.0 litre to the leon (2017 model)

In the two months of ownership i have nothing to complain about.

I've had mine since the end of Jan this a year, a 2017 version with ACT. It is a good engine and as said it can provide good MPG on longer journeys. My work run of 7 miles averages around 35mpg with hills and plenty of stop/starts. Had it remapped a few months back and it feels even better, overall loving the car.

I had a 2017 (67 plate) new shape Fiesta St-Line, cost £30 to tax, got rid, had a golf then bought another Fiesta St-Line (2018 18plate), cost £145 to tax - same flipping engine and emissions ??????????????

How long with zero tax vehicles (I've had 2) and low tax vehicles would it take someone from the DVLA to go...where's all our :censored: road tax revenue gone?? I'm going from £0 to £145 [:@]
