As title says. Can anyone give some advice on what alloys i can get for my 2017 cupra300 ST.

I had a set of winter wheels/tyres on 18s with 235/45/18s on my mk3 skoda superb sportline these fit the cupra but the offset is way out so the wheel sticks out more and so catches on the arches when suspension goes up.

I am planning on getting a set of 18" alloys and swapping the winter tyres across.

Thanks in advance

Adrian

Standard wheels are 19x8 ET50

On an 8” rim ET45 is safe on lowered suspension.

Should give you some scope for wheels.

However I suspect the problem isn’t so much your wheels but the tyres. 235/45 R18 isn’t actually legal on your car, as they’re are not within the +/- 3% rolling circumference of the original tyres. Not that you’d get done by a copper :)

But it does highlight that there tyres are a good chunk taller (10mm+) so are closer to the arch’s by 10mm already.

Then say add on a wheel with an offset of 45 or less and your going to get rubbing.

So 18x8 ET50 would be your safest option with those tyres, but still not necessarily going to cure the issue. Yes people fit lowering springs that lower more than 10mm, but the springs are harder.

So you maybe better buying new tyres not new wheels.

Thx damo for info! Much appreciated. It was... And prob is the option to do now.

If i was to go with 18s on 18x8... What tyres would be best suited to stay within the 3%?

Only reason going 18s is that tyres are a lot cheaper

To be honest, 18’s for winters is probably better anyway :)

Out of interest what are the specs of your 18’s?

As for tyres, 235/40 R 18 is perfect at 0.29% smaller.

If your ever unsure try this site...

I’d expect ET44 to be fine with the right tyre.

I’m effectively running ET40 at the front and ET45 at the rear with no issues. But that’s 235/35 R19 on a quite wide Goodyear.

Naturally with a bigger profile you normally get a bigger bulge on the tyre. However I’d be surprised if you had any issues with 235/40 R18 on those wheels.

Yeah thats a possibility i guess. Will have to weigh up my options. They will sell as a whole set fairly easily on briskoda forums.

Thx, never understand those websites lol. My superb had 19s orinally and i wanted 18s as better and cheaper tyres. And i hoped they fitted straight onto my cupra to save this hassle... Lol...

Don’t worry about the understanding so much and use the site I posted as it will give you a visual representation and simple explanation of the difference between the 2...

https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.p...ct2=40&wheel_size=18&wheel_width=8&offset2=50

This shows how much taller and further out your winter setup is compared to the standard setup...

Thx. When i 1st put them on, i straight away noticed wheel poked out more and suspected it would catch the arch. Do u think the 225/40/18s would be ok? Thinking thinner wheel may offset the 6mm that the wheel sits further out

18x8 ET44 would be fine with 235/40 R18

225/40 R18 will be a narrower tyre and overall a smaller diameter as well (the profile 40 means 40% of the width) do 40% of 225 is going to make the overall diameter smaller than 40% of 235.

So yes they’ll fit.

Ok was just cautious that wheel sticks out 6mm further out. If car was full the gap would close again...

I’ve run 10mm at the rear on a lowered car with a little rubbing. 235/35 R18 on a standard car with those wheels would be fine, more so on standard suspension.
