Hi guys, Really wanting to add some more power to my19 Cupra 290, aware of warrenty I dont really want to go stage 1. I've been told to get the VAG Jb4 and just remove it when the car goes in for any work, is it in anyway still detectable, and whats the main differences between ECU stage 1 and JB4? Thanks, Conor.

Jb4 is a really good bit of kit and between the jb4 and stage 1 performance wise there’s not a lot of difference. Pros of the jb4 is undetectable and if you decide to go stage 2 you can get a little bit of your money back by selling it.

Is a JB4 legitimately not detectable when taking in the car for a service or whatever? Is it something that should still be installed and temporarily uninstalled by a proper workshop or is it a plug&play type of thing that even a numpty can manage?
Sounds very tempting in a situation where I don't wanna void the engine warranty.

Always alot of speculation about on the detection of JB4's etc, however I've still never seen someone have first hand experience of having a warranty claim rejected! It's an interesting topic though, suppose no one wants to be the first to find out though! Lol

On the performance side of the comparison, a well setup JB4 will perform the same as a well setup map and even outperform some!

Can highly recommend JB4, great product and performance. Brilliant support from George who is the VAG specialist at Burger Motorsports.

I've had my car at the dealer for service quite a few times and the first couple of times I removed the unit completely but the last two times I've just put it in map 0 (bypass mode) and unplugged the ODB2 connection and tucked away the cable. I also had it in for warranty work without issues.
